Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the No. 9 on the back of his Real Madrid shirt, according to AS.
There has been much speculation over which number Ronaldo will wear at the Bernabeu, since his two previous numbers are already taken. Club legend Raul wears No. 7, Ronaldo's number at Manchester United, while Ruud van Nistelrooy wears 17, which is what Ronaldo wore at Sporting Lisbon.
Now, it is understood that Ronaldo has been promised the No. 9 shirt, which has just been vacated by Javier Saviola. It is, of course, the number that the legendary Alfredo Di Stefano wore during his time at the club.
Interestingly, the 'other' Ronaldo - the Brazilian one - also wore the shirt during his three seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Cristiano has already registered the trademark 'CR9' as a patent, and he is planning to open a 'CR9' branded clothing store in Madrid.
