Van Basten resigns as Ajax coach

Marco van Basten has stepped down as coach of Dutch side Ajax after they failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.
The former Netherlands striker, 44, only took over in July 2008 after four years in charge of the national side.
A club statement read: "The main reason for resigning is that he didn't meet his goals and doesn't feel he is capable of improving next season."

but was fergie a top player when he was playing? I think he was an average player when he was playing, but what am great manager he is. great managers need to have their own successful ways of managing players. I believe that the best players will play to their best of abilities even under a lousy tactics. Fergie's job now is considered easier as he has a few world class players in Man Utd side, ronaldo, rooney, tevez, berbatov, ferdinand, evra, vidic, VDS etc.

MU was top , cos MU is a brand team , any players heard MU or Liverpool , would jump in to play for them .
The diff was that .... MU was quick to sign good players .
Like Vidic , we were slower than MU to sign him .
Rick Parry is slow to react to Vidic's availabilty .

Being quick in the transfer market , and scouting teams , and with the money Ferguson has got the support , he can build a team to replace the aged players in to mount a challenge in the BPL year in year out .
Plus Ferguson strict dressing room tactics that worked ( asked Beckham ) , he can make full potential of the players .

I saw many ex-players , after retirement , immediately without experience , jump to manage a top team , and flpped .
Namely Bryan Robson , Gareth Southgate ( soon ) , Keane , Mick Mcarthy , Tony Adams , Glenn Hoodle , etc ..... many more .
Looked at Martin O'Neill ? He was a manager at Wycombe Wanderers in think ....
And David Moyes ? Do we heard of him ??? Unheard of .
And Sam Allardyce ? Heard of him before ? What he did at Bolton was phenomenal .
