I think I will work until I die. Money not enough how to retire.......................

I'm only 49 years old and I'm into semi retirement now. I'm a Singaporean but I chose to live in JB because its cheaper there to stay. I work part time. I plan my own retirement. See the Malaysians are smarter than Singaporeans so to speak. Work in Singapore but stay in JB....Singapore good place to work but no good to stay. You work hard in Singapore but you can't afford to fall sick in Singapore.

You're welcome and I'd learned these statements two decades ago from Singaporeans themselves. Even the foreigners themselves know these popular statements and agree with its meaning. Ask any old timer Singaporeans or foreigners, especially the Malaysians, they know and they will smile at you. If you ask any MPs, they know about these statements and they will just ignored it though it is a true maxim. -

I still want to be 'paid' when I'm retired. Which is why must cheong now and work for my retirement. Got a retirement planning policy from posb, when I hit 65, I will get $40 per annum for 10 years. So machiam like drawing salary but not actually working.

I think its better if you take up an endowment scheme plan insurance for 20 or 25 years and when the insurance plan matures at least you have some cash. -
Well, just make sure that before you go for full retirement, you don't have anymore debts then your retirement would be a joyful part of your golden years.

I'm think it is very good idea of residng in Johor for the rest of my life. Close enough to Singapore that it's still cheap & convenient enough to travel to & fro from there even every day ! No other venue outside Singapore can claim similar levels of proximity & accessibility ! In Malaysia, i can get a good house with land. Also the better food & cheaper prices for them.
In fact, if one has HDB flat available for rent at about S$1500, this is more than enough to cover your retirement in Malaysia or Thailand. I think the above plan is good option for people who can't afford to migrate due to personal reason or want to quit the rat race without the hassle of migrating to a first world country.

Well, you will still get to see and listen Singapore TV and Radio channels. If you still working, you must discipline yourself to wake up early morning to go to work in Singapore. Initially, it would be like a hassle or difficult for you but once you get the hang of it, its not a big problem for you anymore. Just ask yourself this question, "If the Malaysians can do it, why can't I as a Singaporean?" -
