How about splitting the two teams in terms of a team for those who are out to gain experience and play for fun, and another one to play for points?
That way, there's a clearer focus within each team. Rather than just lumping people together. That way, both teams will not play well or have fun. -

but we also need to have an equal balance of so called "cat 1" and "cat 2" bowlers....agreed? -
i would say that both teams will want to win the league...

Interesting. That, raises another point. Appointment of team captains. Since HanZzZzZ is already the captain of Team Hanz Dynasty, Prataman is the captain of the katong league team, both Airgrinder and Chee35 had already went about their captain tour, guess the appointments are open to the rest of the members. No hurry, have to fill up the members first.

We haven't really decided who's heading the other squad, have we? We don't really even know the entire available "pool" of bowlers overall.
Besides the 12, only Chuan and Clown have expressed any desire to join. How about the rest? -

but we need an equal balance of bowlers...
so what i'm suggesting is that after we group the bowlers into
initial "committed" and "not-so-committed" bowlers
we then temporarily omit those "not-so-committed" bowlers, and group the remaining "committed" ones into "bowling to win" and "bowling for experience" gropus
after that grouping we then slot in those "not-so-committed bowlers"
that way we can ensure we can put 2 teams out at every league outing... -
Do we have three bowlers at least who want to play for points and can play every week barring an accident? The minimum is two such bowlers for the team so that the one or two remaining places can be rotated. That way, it'll be much easier to arrange ALL attendances.
The play-for-fun team is much more relaxing to play in, Player1. It's important to have some league experience under one's belt. Or some others may just relish the team atmosphere that league play provides but not the stress that may come with the expectation of scoring well week-in and week-out.
Hence the two groups. I know Hanz and Prata understand this. But it's been brought up that the "experience" team may outscore the "points" team. That is entirely possible. There may be people who can play very well, but simply not interested in the dogfight of league play. While some want points all the time, but don't have the ability to match. That's why I want to group according to people's goals. If their goals and what they are told to do clashes, then motivating them may be a huge problem. -

This league seems a better one to gain massive amount of points than Katong "sh*tty lanes" League and Eastside "All-Stars" League.

Just a thought about the latest plan of splitting into 2 teams , one for winning and one for experience.
I forsee that by the time all of us have voted ourselves into the respective groups, there'll be a terrible imbalance of members in both teams.
Afterall, everyone wants to win right?
So what happens if lets say,
assuming 14 bowlers
Winning Team = 10
Experience Team = 4
We'd have to so called "kick" 3 out from the winning team right?
To ensure a balance of members in each team?
My take is , those 3 that get kicked out won't be too happy about it right??? -

Sorrie to mentioned that after knowing your stats for the previous season, I don't think there would be any chance that you can kick the butt of any uncles and aunties.
However, I wish to suggest that the team needs a balance as well as a good captain. The captain should plan the lineup according to the opponent.
Unless your players are very consistent, should always mix some with high handicap in team lineup. When against the top team and if there is no chance, put the about 2 bowlers with very high handicap so that if luck is on our side it would be our advantage.
Sad to mention that unless its a scratch league, everyone always "tar lek" their average to gain handicap.
That's from my few years of experience.
Finally when is the details going to be finalized -
Unless we plan to come up with strategy planning every week to use the handicap to our advantage, otherwise, most of us will just bowl and don't think so much.
You could have above avg players sandbag (but still win) and use them for their handicap purposes, but i don't recommend this.
What everyone else can do is even if our handicap is lower than our opponents, then put in a higher scratch pinfall every game lor. -

of course both teams we eventually pick will have the capability to get points off our opponetns and not be the whipping boys......
was discussing wif prata yesterday,
Why not we do it this way,
Get 2 team leaders and do a Draft pick.
ie each team leader takes turns to choose people.
We can thus ensure that both our teams have a more or less equal balance of talent/skill/bowling knowledge or whatever u guys call it....
And of course, there has to be a more or less equal balance of committed and non committed bowlers as well....
