but are u hell-bent on working in public sector? if not, just like I am, i just take a degree of my interest, from a fairly reputable university, then work in the private sector, in private sector, ability count more than ur cert unlike in public sector, a honours degree can get higher pay than a normal degree even though at same position. So well, dun be too worried, if u confirm u like the subjects, go for it.Originally posted by Xiao Long Nu:oic.....aiyo thats y mus consider all these factors before choosin a cos to study on..![]()

realy thanks alotOriginally posted by Ian:SIM/UOL (uni of london)
currently offers 5 courses (full time and part time)
degrees in: banking and finance, management, info systems, business and accounting finance.
part time only: management with law (something like that not to sure about the part time ones)
there are 3 different components in SIM,
namely, the UOL, RMIT and the Open U side.
UOL is better for business, whereas RMIT is more of a general side. Open U is for part timers only leaning towards the engineering sector.
part time courses can be on any day of the week, even weekends depending on what they schedule you for, weekdays classes typically from 7pm-10pm or 730pm-10pm.
the website u guys found probably includes the phone number for the customer service. give them a call if u are free, i definately tink that the customer service pple are the best around. they can answer all ur queries and are very nice pple. unlike some from other institutions and even businesses.
i hope this clears some of your doubts. anymore questions dun hesitiate to ask. i tink some of us here can try to answer.
Me from Banking & Finance courseOriginally posted by gasband:UOL is of course a very good university. But the one offered in SIM is a Management course, very theroretical, if u wan that, then take it. RMIT is not as good in its business course i must say.
Have u considered other instituitions? Why not u tell me what u would like to take first? What kinda course.
If you do well in your exams(top few), you'll get an opportunity to study in london, fully sponsoredOriginally posted by Qoo`~`:how abt scholarship?

You're from the earlier batches hence I think your times when looking for jobs are harder.Originally posted by Mospeada:guys,
from looking at all the postings, something is lacking...
everyone is saying how good is the UOL courses offered by SIM, how come no one is telling the other side of the story?
is it really that good?
I was from SIM too....but i tend to look at things form 2 sides...to get the more wholistic picture...
maybe...but the degree we are getting will always be considered not as good as that of locals Us...had a few cases of discriminations among friends...as for me, i am lucky to have an open boss who doesn't mind the external degree....Originally posted by Ding:You're from the earlier batches hence I think your times when looking for jobs are harder.
hi Ding, actually SIM started offering the Accounting and finance for UOL yr b4 last yr.Originally posted by Ding:A&F I think is from RMIT,melbourne Australia.
It will depend on what you wanna read. A&F is accounting based and dwell deeper into accounts/auditting.
B&F equips you with general knowledge of the banking sector. It teaches only basic accounting.
cheers

though RMIT is also offering another AnF course
as 4 UOL biz. its a newly reformed course from UOL mgmt, not too sure abt it except that it offers the student more flexiablity, control and choices over subjects to suit their interest,
as u can choose to take subjects more towards Qualitative side like theories, essay type eg marketing, hrm or Quantitative subjects with maths and calculations like management accounting and financial reporting
Btw i'm from UOL A n F 3rd yr
Now revision period stress ...stress ...mugging notes![]()
