Which Bowling shoes are the best?? Dexter/Linds?? or....??

All we have been talking about is balls, its true that balls are a very important factor in bowling. But frankly, how many of u would want to bowl even if u had a good ball on ur hands but u had to wear house shoes?? i for 1 would rather not ball.... Share ur opinions??

Oh, to me, Shoes play an important part in my game too of course. Dexter SST seems good but saw a brand EXXXtra issit? Seems good and expensive too sia.. So which shoe brand is better? Hmmm... if ask me to bowl in house shoes ahh.... let me think twice lah.. kekeke

I've been reading a lot for the past 6 months about this on various web sources. It appears that before the current generation of shoes, Dexter and Linds were on even ground. The Dexter SST5s and the Linds EXXXtras were both on par, split only by bowlers' brand loyalty.
However, Linds has hit some trouble in the states. I think its something about closing a factory and using another manufacturing base. Anyway, the concensus is that Linds' answer to the SST6 (not yet in Singapore) is not as good as the Dexters.
Traditionally, the Linds shoes enjoyed popular support over Dexters because they were way more comfortable, according to what i've read. But the SST6 has corrected this, and only the really hardcore Linds fans still use the brand. Right now, Dexter is the way to go. This is what I've read - may not be true.
Personally, I use SST5s, but they are due for replacement once I have the money to spend.

Harmy, ur earlier post may have confused Power Torq a bit(cos u placed your bracket besides SST6)
although I re-read ur post and understand that u meant Lind's answer to SST6 had not reached S'pore yet.

N yes SST6's in our island for some months now. Maybe most pro-shop have limited stocks(they order 1 or 2 at a time cos Xpensive, no one buy how?) hence u may have missed it.

shoes? no need lah..i using a 7 yr old linds classic. the right side brake pad fell out, the left side sliding all black. need shoes meh?
ok seriously, the SST6 and SST5 supposedly is identical in most aspects. the main difference is that the SST6 is catered for broader or flatfooted pple as the front is wider. the SST5 was lacking in this aspect and some pple felt very uncomfortable using them.
anyway, the Linds line now uses the little circle patches as slide adjustments while the Dexter series is the tradional whole front patch change. i suppose its the same but i still feel safer wif the Dexter as its a whole area change. anything i missed out? -

The brand is , I think. That was my first pair of shoes. It came with my ball package + bag. I used it until it 'crocodiled' and became a safety risk. So I spent money on the SST5s I use till this day.
I don't have the money! That's the problem. -
Got me a pair of SST 4s about 2 years back, when i just started bowling. Can't remember how much it cost, but the price was slashed to clear stock. Had the option to get 5s, but the 4s seem the more sensible choice for a new bowler, plus i found the interchangeable heel unnecessary.
Don't like the colour though, it's like, boring white. Looks better now that it's a little worn and dirty. -
ian, i know at least one coach doesn't like shoes with changeable "button" soles. says something like the sole dont wearout together and if you change the "buttons" you might not insert in flatly, or one in one out, or angle wrong, blab blab blab.
chuan, ur shoes must have the "chuanish" look rite, or they dun rite??!! -
well, i guess i better start saving up a dollar a day to wait for sst6 to be cheaper. Right now juz have to stick to my old shoe

well guess thats y i dun like the buttons too... anyway, really its all up to the bowler. if he's the careful sort, he wun have such problems yeah?
anyway, where oh where can my dexter be? the lord took them away from me, its gone to panama so i gotta be good, so i can see my dexter when i wait for coverage. (lucky pay insurance or else i mati) -
Basically, i find the Linds shoes material too hard and the front too wide, giving me no sense of security when i slide... Dexter shoes however are all designed by foot doctors(that's wat i read in the box anyway...) and they are made from Kangaroo leather, so it keeps my feet warm and cosy, like wearing slippers....
So, i'm a hardcore Dexter fan!! I have 3 pairs of dexters!! (1SST4 & 2SSt5) Another diff between, the SST6 and SST5 is that the heel of the SST6 is wider, unlike ur normal shoes... something like those platform shoes that gays used to wear...
Besides, if one wears a good shoe and looks good in it, i'm sure that will have an effect on the person's game too, due to increase in confidence.... -

You can actually sell your SST4s since you don't wear them. They won't fetch much, but at least it's better than collecting dust. What size do you wear? -

well if not for the fact that my linds is quite new + i'm broke + dexter shoes aren't too pretty, i'd most probably get a pair of dexters....so i guess i wld say dexters shld be better...
