cabs are quiet cheap and the mrt as well. ans depending on where you are getting your food the prices can be lower than in other countries. if your going to an scandinavian country you will become poor even if your only buying at supermarkets or going to the cheapest restaurants(usually 50-60s$) there are no foodcourts or so.

Rental rates at shoping mall are quite high. Many years ago, I heard the rental rate for a 100 sq ft shop in a non-matured estate was already $6000 per month plus 10% of sales made.
Rental rates are high because the market is controlled by CapitalLand and CapitalMall Trust.
