This is a post for today regarding revival of some Sg Hokkien words or phrases:
★ 把家車 ★
Pa-ke-chhiaUsed equivalent to mean: �家車 in Mandarin (Car, Private Car)
More similar phrases formed using 把家 ：
把家� （Pa-ke-chhu）= Private House / Landed Property = 食風�（chiah-hong-chhu）
把家 is Pa-ke （Par - Kay）, borrowed from Peranakan Malay Pakay ← Pakai, which is in turn borrowed from Malay Pakai (official, usable, agreeable)

But for kiet''' leng/ or kek''' leng/ , we have enough evidence this word came into our Hokkien via the Peranakan Baba language Keleng which is itself borrowed from Malay Kelinga which is itself imported from the Name of the Indian Kingdom of Kalinga

Thanks. On the symbols for pronunciation "i catch no ball". Think learning such stuff really got to hv it thru audio or learn it "live".
