Are we ready?

Just recently, we've witnessed our government's haphazard response to the haze: they fumbled, were slow to react, and obviously hadn't thought through contingency plans. When questioned by the people, they were slow to respond; when they finally took action, it was too little too late.
Now here comes the scary part: this was just for a haze, a haze which we have experienced every year over the last decade- and we've all seen for ourselves how ineffective they were in dealing with it, and how their first instinct wasn't to protect the people.
It makes me wonder then- how prepared are we actually against more fatal threats such as new strains of viruses or even biological terrorism? What assurance do we have that our government knows how to react if there was a serious outbreak? Will they reach out and protect the people? Can they do so with the required knowledge and effectiveness? Will they spend what's necessary to develop the right vaccination? Or will they simply stand aside and let the problem get out of hand, just because they want to 'calibrate' their actions and scrimp on spending for public health?
As a parent of three young children, I am very concerned. the government took one week to respond to the haze, and if they took a week to respond to a fatal viral outbreak, many people would have died by then.
How can we be certain that we are sleeping safe? -
i think they reacted well with the readings and warnings and free masks for needy and discounted GP fees.
it was oni a freak day tt it shot up to galactical lvl and the whole of SG reacted like �星撞地�

On that particular day when the 3 hour average turned out to be 400+, it was the people who overreacted, all the govt could do was take action to taper off this overreaction.

Recently i saw Dr Oz show regards to biological transmission which can cause tremendous effect to the country such Anthrax , Ebola and Small Pox . It is very scary . I really have no idea what the goverment offer to contain this or do we have any good secure for the protection .

got many big organization around us, u look at them
after one year then another year already still no action taken

Sgp so small n is densely populated, any fatal virus will spread as fast as it can be, bcoz no way u can reduce human contact bcoz u can nvr self sufficient like food... It comes, we r finished.

Hi! Can someone explain to me what is ebola and smallpox all about? I have heard about Antharax in the USA. But these are new. Hope you can explain

Reiterate my opinion, If there is massive outbreak of pandemic or what you called bioterrorism, there is no safe shelter in sgp... It is too small and two crowded, we don't even have a place for evacuation.. Just fly out of this island! So don't bother, live through today and don't think too much abt tmr.

@Avatarniu: too simplistic an opinion...it there was an outbreak on our island, we would probably be rendered immobile almost immediately as other countries will turn away travellers originating from our island....

This had been a major concern which can't be take it easily . We have to know what is the protection we have currently especially in Singapore by the goverment . I had seen the programme by Dr OZ too . Also pls check on the below link
