Based on Singapore's Consumer Price Index and its real Gross Domestic Product, yes Singapore goods and services has rose tremendously since its independent. This mean that our cost of living has rose and Singapore's economy has grown.
As long as Singapore's economy continue to grow and coupled with foreigners migrating into Singapore, its cost of living will rise gradually. This rise is inevitable.
But that does not mean that we Singaporeans could survive with high cost of living. If you look at our basic goods and services like food, health care, transportation, etc, it is not expensive at all. The rise of these goods and services is well balanced with our income. This means that we are keeping up with the inflation.
The only thing that are exorbitant to us are luxury goods like owning a property, cars, etc. The reason why these goods are so exorbitant comparing to other countries due to scarce of land.
