Where?
wow, what an interesting debate. i feel compelled to give my two cents worth! ok, i came from a lower income family, but studied damn hard to get into a good course in university. so now, i would consider myself upper middle income (going by the statistics in MOM which you can't really believe becuase the truely rich pple do not have income, only dividends from their many many companies).
But anyway, my stand upfront is that i don't think the PAP did a bad job in bringing SG to where it is.i hate how stressful, crowded and overrun with foreigners sg is becoming but i see it happening in almost every city (sydney also overrun with foreigners like sgoreans) jsut tt these pple have a choice of moving to the countryside, which SGoreans will never have. so i dunno what is the alternative for sg - try a different route from other countries and risk going downhill? no more pradas, chanels, comfy taxi rides, concerts from pop stars and world class hotel and famous restarurants. that is the upside of living in a city like sg. and htat is what i feel my generation (besides me coz i am very heartland still coz of my family background) craves - both from people who i think are able to afford it, and those whom i think are not able to afford it.
from my feel of things, people like me (who managed to move from lower income to upper middle income are ok with the PAP. those who vote against, generally are voting becuase they want a true democracy or are unhappy with the style of politics). genearlly, i find that for those people who experience a drop in life style (i.e. from living in condo with parents to now having to apply for a very small hdb flat) are very unhappy with the PAP. among the circle of friends who are the most angsty are those who grew up living in a condo / landed house / bigger hdb flats / have a car / family brought them overseas, but now they are not able to afford the same lifestyle for themselves without saving up for it. i stress that becuase i realise a lot of young people do not save. I also have very rich pple who grew up in rich familes who are very unhappyw ith the PAP. why? they say that there are poor people in singapore and they are unhappy that the PAP is not doing more for these people. But for the record, these rich people are not going to help the poor people, they want the govt to do it. besides, they often compalin about taxes and would not hesitate to move their father's buisness overseas to reduce taxes payable.
i know that people out htere think that the uber rich and upper middle income are very FOR PAP. but i just wish to correct this perception imho. from what i see,. those who were born rich are not. they have different ways of looking at the world in which they want other people to look after the poor. just not them.

FYI, even it is only $1.50 but the standard is not consistent. Oily and sometimes tastes too much of sauce.

You better hope very hard that you will not be replaced by foreigners whom the govt Papigs approve of their existence to work here. hahahahha!
You are not up to that maturity to understand the problems in Singapore. Your perception and thinking lack maturity, understanding, and objectivity. hahahahahahaha! When will you be replaced by foreigners we really do not know, but you hope very hard you will not Ok!!!!!!!!!hahahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!!

Another buay C S!
who is rock sugar? i don't disagree that my perception may lack maturity so it would be good to hear from more enlightened folks on this. afterall, my perception of things is only based on my group of friends / acquaintances mostly between the ages of 23s to 35 years old. i dont mean to be SBHL by saying that i graduated from uni because there are many people like me in my generation.
my definition of "low income" is a family income of 2,000 SGD a month supporting a family of 5 plus the usual amount given to support aged parents. relying on bursaries, giving tuition to get through uni.
middle income? as in my present situation? earning a decent sum, with spare cash to go on holidays.
i definitely don't think life is about pradas, chanels, comfy taxi rides. But i think most of people that i know want and hanker after this lifestyle knowingly or unknowingly. whether or not htey can afford it. for example, i have friends whose monthly pay is about 8k a month so i think they can afford to buy branded bags. i also have friends whose pay is about 3 k a month who also buys these bags.
what is happiness to u? money?
not entirely, money is needed to a certain level but once pass that level, you need other things to keep one happy - relationships, a purpose filled life, etc.
allo you should extend your horizon! Just basing on your circle of friends to view things does not help you to have an overall view of situation and problems in Singapore.

Take care of your parents. They need your support. That bonding is fading fast in this mad rush.
I feel bless as my kids take good care of us.

Haha you should know how contradictionary you sound.
Hi guys! TS is back! Haha.
In light of the recent headlines, <Growth is the only way to go> by PM amid the calls for slower growth in exchange for solving social issues.
Based on economic terms, what our PM said make sense. The figures match up. Any tertiary student can tell you this.
However, I can't help but think whether this move is just bull-dozing away the voices of Singaporeans. The current political situation is rather tense for PAP where many people have hopped on the bandwagon of higher cost of living, higher housing prices, higher COE prices, but pay not high enough! Haha. I also feel my wallet getting flatter too sia....Knn...
Whether this move by our PM, Growth is the only way to go, will work out is still too early to comment. What you guys think?
i am still a student, of course i need a growth in height
we need ppl like taylor swift in grassroots level
