RECENTLY, I found out that my 58-year-old husband has been visiting casinos and also borrowing money for gambling. My son and myself have to come up with $17,000 to repay his debts.
I decided to apply for a family exclusion order but to my horror, I found out that the process takes two weeks.
I understand that this time is needed for the National Council on Problem Gambling to ascertain the family's input and prevent any abuse of the system.
But I urge the authorities to consider a temporary exclusion order to prevent those like my husband from entering casinos during the investigation process.
Meanwhile, we can only pray that he will stop going to the casinos because in the intervening days, he could pile up a lot of debt.
