IN LAND-SCARCE Singapore, parking spaces for vehicles should be considered first before any idea - including a satellite Electronic Road Pricing system - to manage road congestion is contemplated.
As it is, more and more living spaces are making way for parking spaces. The roads in HDB estates can be as congested and noisy as those in the city during the morning and evening peak hours.
Too much focus on meeting people's aspiration to own cars, without due consideration for living spaces, air quality and efficient movement of goods and people, could have irreversible consequences.
Singapore, being surrounded by the sea, should also explore the viability of using its waterways as another mode of moving goods and people. For example, people could be ferried to the Central Business District from boarding terminals at the eastern and western coastal areas, where there are many parking spaces for motorists to park their vehicles and board the ferries.

SBS = Swimming Buoy Service.

They should seriously consider water transportation soon.

u can now cruise from Tanglin waterfall to Marina Bay
how cool!
Omg the once in fifty year flood happens again.
good idea...but jus dun take it as an excuse to be late for work cos the wind was strong and ferry becomes slow...u may have to wake up at least 40 mins earlier to ensure u r on the dot due to slow moving ferry...
next...come speed boat at express fares...minimum could be $20 onwards esp if u r staying far east or west....
i will make my own boat to work... keke
like the MRT safety announcements...
"IF YOU ENCOUNTER A TERRORIST ON THE FERRY, JUMP INTO THE WATER AND SWIM TO THE SHORE."
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE FERRY COMPANY SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY OR DEATH RESULTED.

Don't forget times are bad.
Government sure to slap a licence fee for your boat.
Spore too small to consider using waterways as a another mode of pubic transport. Unlike bkk, they are big and they do need the boats. Spore? noway.
probably viable if flood becomes a norm.
you want a sampan, a dingy or speed boat?
Great idea. If any idiot wants to jump off they won't hold up the service.
