4 men from Chile charged with theft

SINGAPORE : Four men from Chile have been charged in court with theft.
They are 29-year-old Cristian Jerardo Pina Lemnunir, 31-year-old Jean Pierre Silva Rebolledo, 34-year-old Cristian Eduardo Criado Ordonez and 38-year-old Claudio Ivan Cuevas Osorio.
They are accused of stealing items including a laptop computer worth over S$500 from Ang Jinting at Tangs departmental store at Orchard Road last Friday.
The men are believed to be responsible for a series of thefts involving more than S$10,000 worth of items - taken from their rightful owners who had left them unattended.
Police said the items included branded bags and mobile phones.
The South Americans, who had entered Singapore on social visit passes, were arrested at a Geylang hotel on Monday.
The men will be back in court on March 31.
