ONE of the three Kallang slashers facing a capital charge was slapped with another murder charge following the death of the victim.
Tony Imba, 32, from Sarawak, is now in custody with fellow Malaysians Micheal Garing, 22, and Hairee Landak, 20, for the alleged murder of construction worker Shanmuganathan Dillidurai, 41, at an open field along Kallang Road near to a condominium on May 30 2010.
Their case is at pre-trial stage. When the trio's case came up for mention in court via video-link on Wednesday, the prosecution tendered a charge of murder against Tony to replace one of the robbery-with-hurt charges he is facing.
Originally accused of robbing Mr Jefrrey Tan Hong, 63, and hitting his head with a block of wood, he is now accused of causing his death at a footpath behind Block 25 Jalan Berseh on May 30 2010.
Mr Tan - who was in coma after the alleged attack - died recently.
So far, four of the Sarawakians have been convicted and jailed. One was given two years and six strokes for attempted robbery while three got six years and 12 strokes each, for robbing a Chinese construction worker of a $230 mobile phone from under the MRT tracks near Lorong 17 Geylang in May 2010, while armed with a parang.
