Hi,
My husband will start driving a cab in a month or two and we are looking for a reasonably priced and reliable GPS system (hope it's not way too expensive due to our financial circumstance). We sold our car 4 years ago and have not driven much since, so there are many new roads that he is unfamiliar with. Would appreciate any help and if you could indicate the price and where we can purchase it. Thanks !
Use google maps...
I choose Gps in my mobile of google maps..
google map outdated ~
Google Maps as mentioned here is a cheap alternative, but if you're looking for something better, Singapore Map by street directory on Google Play is better since the publishers are mainly in Singapore.
But if you're looking for GPS systems, some taxis come with them. If you're driving with Comfort or Citycab(now both known as ComfortDelgro Taxis), knowing some parts of the road would be enough. But their GPS system inside is shitty, they provide you with a freaking dot and a straight line to your destination.
You could check Garmin's website, they're quite renowned for their Satellite navigation systems. Here. There are no pricings on their site as you have to go to authorised retailers to buy them.
But ultimately, Sim Lim Square is the best option.
Couple of solutions to choose from.
gps don't really give u the best route
i use mobile map
If you use a smartphone(Samsung S3/S4/S5 etc) with big screen, it would be cheaper to use a software like Sygic.
Everybody posted to a dead forum. Active one for taxi drivers is http://sgforums.com/forums/3426/topics/
Just started driving a cab. Googlemaps is quite good but you must preview the route and make sure you know in advance what turns to take.
Googlemaps plus some local knowledge is enough. Better still, ask pax to guide you there, save time, save cost and misunderstanding.
Yeah pax all the way. Good call!
pax dunno then take taxi lah
Try Garmin. Very accruate. I always use it in Malaysia. Can search for any deserted streets in Malaysia. Never use TIBO.
