So far, haven't heard any TD become pax employee, will you be the first?.......lol
This shows that you are not in the industry long enough....
Got this kaki (Edwin), drove Mercedes cab, jump to Maxi cab, within 2 months, got a Big Boss from Malaysia (Datuk) employed him (stationed in Singapore) $6k per month + Free use of a Toyota Camry (registered under kaki's name, car paid by company). This happened about 7 years ago.
This is call fate. Not many of us have this type of LUCK.

Salary must be over 7k if not might as well be a hirer for Silver Cab.
Don't forget that this CDG Limo Chinaman said that people all over the island in Singapore prefer to wave when he is driving. Could it be because they look like Police Cars? Maybe they thought it is police car and wave. Driver thought they flagging him and mention it in Sunday Times. Phui!!!!

actually,
if u look closely at the new Maxicab (Viano),
the new taxi signage is also in digital mode (which means, it will be the same as the normal CDG taxis).
hence, from far (especially in the night), once somebody waved (seeing the green taxi sign), the Maxicab stop for the passenger....
But....
I knew many Maxicabbies, 99.9% don't do sweeping. unless changing shift or heading home... then they will put Shift changing to ......
Anyway the $7,000 is full of bull. (even the man in news admitted his LIES).
If he drives limo cabs.... then maybe, he "may" have regular guests on hourly basis, could come close to that imaginative amount.

Can, why cannot, as long as you can DIY to PCC yourself, everything also can

If it is a bullshit, then the media should come out and clarify, apologise and correct it, it is very irresponsible for a national media to come out with a news in a public that is not correct and misleading others.
I think we, as taxi drivers should join hands and get a solid lawyer to go after them, we can charge them as outright defamation under section 45, clause 11-14 of Defamation Act.
Lawyer Bowah asking SPH, Sir, can give provision on a untrue news published on this date....
to secure tow kay, some basic element must process
1) you must be ready to serve at all time, tow kay don't wait for you, there are many driver waiting for them.
2) driving habit must be safe and smooth. Ah pek style, safe but too slow, no. Cheong style, fast but unsafe, no also. Must drive fast enough till he drink kopi inside also won't split type.
3) Professionalism, they know they are paying premium, and will expect more.
It is very competitive, this is a low demand, high supply trade, Cost of entry is high (look at the price of a presentable vehicle now), cost of maintainance is high (even Taxi are at $159).
Reture wise, may be better than a Taxi Driver or even better than a graduate, but is still a no work no pay situation, is not my success definition. Hence, not my cup of tea.
above is the research i've done with Limo Driver and compile with my business man friends.

end result, most SPH will publish an apology
but we..... lose money
This job should be done by NTA, if not
NTA kumlan one arh (indeed, they really kumlan one)
NTA not only kumlan, but also lick assholes
They give apologise, wait long long, but if they really give, I do not mind Lose money, I feel very song tio ho lor.
Even if they offer to come out with a statement on the front page, under correction of news, it would had help us to regain our poor man image in the public
In any countries you go, taxis is never a sunset trade, as long as people needs transport, taxi will be there, the public and govt change of policies and extension of other modes of transportation is not going to affect cab trade, moreover, by 10 years time,
More retirees with weak legs, more old men with PRC gals or at OT, more people will be richer with CPF or house sold at a good price, there will be more fatter and older people taking taxis to hospital, clinics, and geyland or Joo Chiat.
And as our sg ladies start to eat and eat, you will see more pui chees on the road unable to walk to MRT, if you do not believe, you can ask ah pool
The only problem I see in TD trade is a self inflict dead situation, meaning we killing each other. Cdg buy over TC, Silver bought over by SMRT and so on,...and also people like that malay guy on the news
The safest way to secure a long term r/s with pax is to sign a annual contract. Minimum usage.
For Example 80 hrs, if they use less than the minimum hours, the driver will benefit (like my case, in Sept, my guests only use 5hrs, but i still got paid for 80 hours).
if they use more (normally in Nov & Dec), i get paid more.
but priority given to them, once they call, i make sure i have to be available or arrange a limousine cab as a replacement.
But still have to work right? So in another words, same same lah, just that you earn more lor

Alamak !!!
which boss will pay a driver w/o working ?
but if there is a binding contract, which meant they got to pay even if they didn't use all of the allocated amount of hours.

most time.....
he is paid to sleep more than work....
