Business operator will only spend their effort to gain more from their customer
As a Taxi Driver, i do not see any benefit, to spend time and effort, to study the whole of Singapore Road, provide so call best route, and there isn't any benefit.
I will still do it to the best of my knowledge.
Anyway, fares structure by meter will have this issue, it's natural
we can talk about it for century....... it will still happen to you

I once at Park Regis at 6pm .... to Night Safari .
CTE damn jam according to members , PIE even worst !
So I used AYE > PIE TUAS > KJE > BKE > Mandai Road .

At KJE , i even show them where i stay , hahahah
They just "so .... so ..... so ....... so ......" In japanese language , very happy .

Street pax and taxi queuing for pax different. Night driving mostly queue. I ever queue at MBS and got a pax. She got no patience waiting for me to search by GPS and got out. If she got no patience while I search with GPS, you think she has patience if I search by Street Directory?
She got out and had difficulty joining the passenger queue. When she got out, there was no way for me to join the taxi queue. Now tell me more about your mindset.
When pax enter, if I know the way, I will move out immediately. If I don't know, I will tell them I am new and not sure of the way. Most will say they will direct but give poor directions. After you make the wrong turn, then the problem starts.

From mbs.. Pax noard.. Go dover rise... I ask go by aye? Pax say yes... To be frank west side i v noob..dover road also dunno which exit to take... East n north i v familiar...
i diam diam head towards aye not knowing which exit to take..never even tell pax i noobie driver just started driving taxi.. But i did not panic! Cuz traffic light stop i key in gps.. Pax see or no see i key in gps i f care... In the end reach dover rise..

Once pax from cathay taxi stand to pioneer sector 1 keppel shipyard.. tell him go by PIE? he say ok... traffic light stop.. key in gps lor.. pax see or no see i key in gps i f care.. pax dont even know whether i know the route or not.. drop pax then pick up 3 indo workers at keppel shipyard.. To jurong point... Dunno how go jurong point... West side i noobie... Traffic lighht stop.. Key in gps lor.. Pax dun even know whetherknow the route or not which actually i dont know!.. I diam diam... Still reach jurong point follow gps... Haha... Must know how to smoke pax...

We must always remember, once you on queue, either taxi stand or airport..........
Meaning you are ready for hired, and must be ready to accept all kind of pax and all kind of destination.........
So for me last time, (anyway very rare got places I don't know or pax don't know how to go one) if I'm queueing, reach my turn, pax on board, don't need to rush mah, make sure I know the address than move off.........if don't know(very rare), tell pax take behind 1, than drive off la..........waste a bit of time won't make me poorer.........
As for midnight........I don't know, everywhere is unofficial taxi queue, even I don't move off, behind taxi also can't fark me right?.......

If I don't know the place, pax don't know, learn what?.........only will add misery to ourself..........
