[News] 5-year-old girl dies after being hit by taxi

A five-year-old girl died of internal injuries and her seven-year-old brother had head injuries after they were hit by a taxi as they crossed Sembawang Drive on Wednesday night.
The children and their parents are from Mumbai. The accident occurred near Sembawang Primary School at about 8.20pm.
According to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, the siblings were taken to a nearby clinic, before being sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The girl died at the hospital. The boy was later transferred to intensive care at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) and was said to be in a stable condition

Driver according to ST , it's from TransCab who made an accident report the next day .
Witnesses said this TransCab taxi travelled at a very fast speed .

Father is working in financial sector .
They shouldn't bring their Indian road culture into Singapore . ( Thta's solely my opinion ) .

i feel bad, pity the poor little girl.
Our traffic police dept concentrate too much on faulty driver (maybe got money to collect), and neglected to educate pedestrian, esp newcomers.
Pedestrian are part of the road user, there are certain safty caution to be observe. Although they do not cause any physical damage to others, but will still cause mental damage when an accident happen.The guiltiness is beyond any imagnation, even the driver is not at fault.
If a driver is speeding, lost control and kill a life at the pedestrian pavement, i will curse the driver to hell.
When accident happen on road, every vehicle will seem like speeding by witness.
When there is a witness, out of pithiness for the little girl, the vehicle will also be reported as speeding
It really does not play fair to the driver.
Pedestrian are to be responsible for their safty and be caution at all time.
I encounter many incident that almost became an accident, and is mainly out from pedestrian carelessness. I can even tell that those pedestrian do not even aware they almost near death. æ»äº†éƒ½ä¸�知什么回事
And many are those new comer.

Yeah, responsibility is always on the driver. You are wrong even if u are right. Many times, cyclists just speed across zebra crossing, taking for granted that motorists will stop in time. Maids running across the crossing , pulling the child along, with the red man on. Just so much as your bumper touch them, driver is wrong.

Singapore's heartland area , roads restricted to 60km/hr nia hor ....
Any speed above +30km/hr can caused you 6 points $170 fine .
Easy easy .
And most cabbies i saw are driving around 70km/hr .
That is not really safe .
It's not just the speed , it's the reaction time we need to put into a total stop .

Child got killed. Unless! taxi driver got video to prove child was purpously dancing in front of taxi, taxi driver gone case. Failure to keep proper look out or he was intoxicated.
I am a taxi driver too! but have come across many cases of dangerous driving; mostly from other taxi drivers. Driving fast is not the issue. Driving carefully is. Know! when to drive fast and know! when to slow down.
I have got horned for driving at the speed limit. If I drive faster than the speed limit and kill someone, will the horner pay all damages if there is an accident?
Agree with Angwk7118. If all TD like him, PCD (Private Car Driver) will be more kind to TD.
In this case, TD killed child. Just wait for the result.

There's always doubts why a car can hit down pedestrian..........
Like the famous embassordo case...........or even the great comedian at East Coast Road many years back..........
It works both way..........
But 1 thing is, LTA should look into all the school zone area again.........a highly accident prone area, especially along Bukit Timah Road, where all the good school situated.........
That day drive past Nayang High......outside stand a sign, "Fatal Accident", wonder does it involve a school kids?..........

Driving licence straightaway suspended in death or serious injury cases involving pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists...since october 2010?
Will only be re-instated after investigation and court hearing (if any) and found not at fault.

Nowadays all luan luan lai like no law like that. Everyday sees a lot chiong red light with pax some more. Nowadays I travel 90km on expressway lane 2 also kenna high light by other TD.
One of these day must invest in a good video cam then sit near traffic lights sure can get a lot of good shots. Taxi population too high, best can decrease it by 30% then all join Chief at coconut tree and take ++meter.
Ever met one stupid driver on AYE. 4 car away already high light and horn on lane 2. Pax ask me what's wrong with that guy, I say maybe I owe him money. He continue to horn and high light. Fed up I on my epica rear fog light, double signal and brake. Funny he shift to lane 3 then start to horn and high light the lorry beside me. Pax say this guy gila. I say must be ah Tiong just convert license.

How come some drivers beat traffic light got caught,some no caught.Should u speed through when light turn amber or apply emergency brake to stop behind traffic light ? -

Pls drive slow and pls used your horn consistently .

My bukit panjang kaki .... a few years ago , hit a local school student , admitted to hospital for a few weeks , with fractured arms and ribs bone .

She was crossing the pedestrains crossing while talking on her phone .
Dunno this girl what happened , after crossing , she U-turned back to cross the pedestrain crossing again without checking , banged !!!! Must be too focus talking on the phone , and want to go back to where she came from . Neglected the incoming traffic .

So while driving in heartland areas , looked out for walking pedestrains talking on the phone or surfing the net with their phones .
This is our latest hazard .
I ever fuck a few students up for using the phones while doing illegal crossing on the road , like traffic all transparent one .
I nearly bang onto them , i wind down my window and educate them .

I think the school must start educating their students the danger of using the phones while walking along the street , dun say crossing the roads .
