heard that one coy considering employing them,they will be under coy's employment and be paid a basic salary of $1000 working 2 shifts.and they get 10 % commission for the day's takings!no need to have taxi partners anymore!

possible , anything is possible ..... and when we are talking about such possibilities , only SMRT are capable of coming out such craps .
Cos nobody want to drive their Crown anymore , and Cedric , and they have further intentions to extend the lifespan of the Crown and Cedric beyond 5 years or even 7 years if possible .
Also they might need to standby some FT to drive their chevy cos they knew after the contract , many will resign , like what many had done thru out the years .
Whether or not will happened , will depends on LTA and their Ministries .

Singapore unions is a joke, Bosses running a union...sure conflict of interest lah, this should be a case of NTWU, National Transport Worker's Unions case. What workers/drivers can do is push it up all the way to the arbitration court, which is the final decision maker of industrial dispute.
Once both side have presented their cases, and the final verdict is given, no appeal is allowed, and if SMRT drivers are to be on the losing side, they do not hv to pay any legal fees, given no choices, mass resignation can be the only thing left, but then, everyone have a family to feed, so it is not so easy.
Alternatively, seek a consultation approach with NTUC, provide option, like 5days work but longer working hours per day, then rest for 2 days, the arguement can be as long as I work 44hrs per week, there is no room for you to cut my paid. On the social aspect, PM had been given speeches on balancing and productive life, Bus drivers are human, and like all others, need to be given a better balancing lifestyle, the young can therefore produce more babies and the older driver can then got more time to care for their grandchildrens.
So, looking at these 2 aspect, one on working hours and the other on social aspect and a better balancing of lifestyle. NTUC must therefore work on it with SMRT. both being a Govt Link should show good example on reducing hours of working and provide a good and better life for their drivers/workers. As such, if a GLC behave in such a way of no room for negotiation, then I do not think those private insitution will follow our nation agenda on living in Singapore. And to me, it is a total disgrace of the tripartism of Singapore and those preaching of good balancing lifestyle.

foolsh is bringing up a speculation (tia kong) that one day, FT may drive TD.
this is okay for discussion purposes only.
Then Ssirajjj posted an article about Bus drivers being conned by their Union. (True story)
And their company is paving the way for more FT to drive the buses.
So, some of our forumers will think that FT becomin TD is real.
Note that FT is already driving our local buses. This one is a fact.

They are Work Permit holders if concluded and not FTs, if S'pass holders more local TS will die cock stand. You think passengers here will like Ah Neh or Tiongs to drive them around in taxi? Now hottest news is Sue & Gay (BJ~ice cream) corruption court case. It may happens in future, but the next 4 years will be a very tough road for PAP.
