Just check in room also nice ...... no Singapore dollars , only USD .
ShangriLa Staff food the best . Their lunch and dinner same , solid one .
I serious regretted not to sign with them full time , i was invited to sign with them .. if not i should be in Housekeeper line liao .
I said no .... housekeeping departments also aunties , i dun like working with aunties .
Yeah I worked as Valet at Shangrila.
They have the best staff canteen.
Don't say the lunch/dinner, their tea/coffee and snacks already super. Then when go some special meal, I thinkl 2 weeks once, even better than normal.
Shangrila guests all standard one. Doorman can earn minimum $30 in tips per shift. Valet can earn $40 -50 per 1/2 day in tips

Room attendant and taxi driving is the only 2 .

If given ..... i am to chose a job , of my pay i wanted .....
It would be at a Shop selling badminton equipments .
Re-string , wrapping badminton grips , selling all brands of racket from Yonex , Apacs , Li Ning , etc ... and shoes , badminton bags , badminton shuttlecocks .
And coaching youngsters " How to enjoy the badminton game."

I was a commodity broker before ...... dealing with futures .
Cocoa , Sugar , Cotton etc ....
One of the most dishonest job as far as i am concern .
No brokering accounts opened , i was glad .
It was simply being a Con man . Convince people to invest , lose their problems , win or lose , commission thick thick . As good as cheating off investor's money into your own pocket .
Rubbish trade .
No differences with cheating others money

This will be one job give me $10,000 a week i also will not join them .
That got to do with integrity .

I find it funny how some of us regret being a td.
I came in by choice.
You can be in any line earning 5k, 10k, 100k. But if you choose to spend 5k, 10k, 100k. You'll end up with nothing still.
I have been retrenched twice so I'll rather be semi-self employed then to live under a axe, looking up at another backside, having to kow tow to ever other tom dick harry.
But like Pool missing his tipping days I also miss room service in ritz carlton days. Hai, $50 tip... in case you ask why i no continue, see previous paragraph.
Have contentment in your life. Or die miserable.

One basic thing that never mentioned here is inflation. Pay increment for an employee is basically to combat inflation. TD does not have pay increment over the years except when meter fare is adjusted or new rules on surcharges are implemented. Bascically annual income is about the same A TD that drives over 10 years and a rookie driving two years may have the same income with the assumption that they both have the same driving hours and roughly the same effort. Is a very montoneous and stangnant job in view of income increment.

The TD will alway be in the lower scheme of paid structure against inflation, why? because the increases in rental and fuel will hamper TDs income.
For last few years, the average inflation at 5.5% is making TD cost of living even harder, so for a real wage increase, which many companies had increase 7 to 10% this years is to first, curb inflation and at the same time increase paid, so given an 8%, which I get increased even as a contractor, you take off 5.5% inflation, our real increment is only 2.5%, this is call real wage increment, if a company increase 3%, it is not an increment, it is actually a lost in term of inflation.
So for TD to really overcome the inflation, they need to earn at least a 5.5% more per day of their usual income, and that is only the breakeven, they need to do more adding another 3 to 5% more income per day of their normal, totally about 8 to 10% more of the usual daily intake inorder to sustain a real income increase.

I don't know, ever since I switch away from Taxi Driving, suddenly I feel much healthy again........
I enjoy much better weekend again.......
I feel something in my neck down release...........
I started to go JB shopping again.........
My CPF growing again.........
My wife need not to worry about me anymore.........especially after Ferrari case........
And best thing is.......Don't need to clean car anymore........

I cannot, if I stop too long, my hands start to get itchy, doctor diagnosed as steering wheel deficiency syndrome, so, once a while, I drive as a hobby and at the same time, make some extra for my other bak bak hobby.

i also got think before about increment ....
but my conclusion ?
fuck lah ....
taxi driving every month say $2500 , one year $30,000 cash pay .,
working say with CPF all in all ...... $2000 very good liao . One year $24000 .
One round as taxi driver , my bonus one year is $6000 .
If i want monthly increment of $100 per month , i just need to ask hirer to let me work on my off day , one off day i can get back the increment of $100 i need .

No doubt driving a cab never increment , same $2500 to $3000 a month for me .
10 years ago also like that , 10 years later also like that .
if i am in sales line , 10 years ago , basic $1600 , vehicle allownace 800 .
Now if i am still in sales line , i really dun think they wwill give me $1500 basic salary , vehicle allowances of $800 is never never possible again .
1999 , after 28 jobs interview .....
With 8 years of sales experiences , they can only give me from $900 to $1300 basic salary .
Car allowances is from $300 max $500 .
Fuck lah phui !!!
It's their lost , not my gain .

My daughter childcare $200+ havent count in ....
Every fortnight groceries at Sheng Siong about $200 haven;'t count in .
Daily food and marketing haven't count in .

Upgrading can fetch me $4000 a month from $1300 basic pay ?
During upgrading period , $1300 i cannot survive , can loan the rest of $2700 first ?

One of them worked as a Bank Operations Mgr at OCBC .
Kena retrenched after working there for almost a decade .
Without any compensation .
It's that what we will end up if given a high pay , PAP ?
In the end , that chap turn to taxi driving .

Professor lost his job , drive taxi .
PhD also come drive taxi .
Bank Mgr also drive taxi .
CEO in China for almost 10 years , came back Sgp , drive taxi .
Banking Grads also drive taxi .
Master degree holders many also drive taxis .
Army Airforce Navy regulars after contract , drive taxis .
There must be something good about driving taxis .

I am happy cos some brilliant people joined me in taxi driving and joined me in Lake View and i had learnt so much things from them , just brilliant !
Money also cannot buy those experiences , never in my entire life i met so many clever personality , in the same profession like me .
That is why i love being Poolman every single day , everyday i can meet so many wonderful people to drink cooffee with and talk to me and learnt thing from me and i also learnt things from them .
Wonderful .
Just a little forum online and what i learnt about different people here is enormous

Just a little forum online and what i learnt about different people here is enormous
Good, nice to see a happy chief, hopefully what you learned and experienced can translate into wisdom, many of us are actually very experienced and learned people, just that some are unable to express it out or align it in proper sequences, but that is how we are, as herding creature, we tends to herd together in our own sphere of influence, Casket driver with casket buddies, TD with taxis buddies, and so on.
It is within this herd of our own, we find happiness and friendship and even best friend and brothers, we therefore have to treasure and cherish them as they make us happy and cheerful and more importantly, the only audiences that listen to our stories.
