Would You Switch Jobs From Driving?

I wont switch my full time job to full time driving. Why? No CPF, no annual leave, no profit sharing, no AWS. Unless die die cannot find job... Age also employer dont want to employ... Than consider to be Hirer... I still got my housing cpf to contribute for the next 26 years and im turning 31 next mth... But im happy to say relief taxi driving contribute more income currently and my wife is expecting.. Eases off my monthly expenditure and able to input more $$$ to my emergency funds...

Let's compare Hawkers and Taxi Drivers,
Both have more or less the same advantages and disadvantages.
Difference between Hawkers and Taxi Drivers is that Hawkers can set any price they want while Taxi Drivers cannot.
In my opinion, best job to switch to! is a Hawker selling Char Quay Teow without Hum!

Yes, if can and still young, earn and save for raining days, but when your child is born, follow by second ones, you better start taking care of your body health. Guess you would had no time to drive taxis. -

No need so much fitness lah, even you become Mr Universe, above 40yo, most employer will have second thought on you, if you said, you formerly taxis driver, they get more wary of you, cos alot of TD siam here siam there, idle here, idle there, give lots of excuses and good in talking..what they want is young, diam diam, work and work with low demand on paid. -

So for people who are in taxis trades, those in their 40s, it is best to carry on with what you are doing, cry here, cry there, no use, because you are already here, might as well enjoy and have fun with it. Human nature provide no room for stagnation, people like to move about, but given not much of a choice, might as well stick with it.
Seeing other good is not going to please a mind, because no matter what you do, you will tends to see someone better, once you are able to master the thinking of no regret, no lose and no win, no glory and no championing, and instead, help the unfortunate ones, have confident in providing service to others, make a happy family and focus on what you have and what you are doing as a living. That smile will visit your face more often.
But then, there are choices in life, but as you age, your choices get narrowed, and then, at the end of the day, let be frank, how long can we live.

my friend born 1968 , accepted by MBS as dealer , kena went training for 3 months .
Basic something like $1300 , overtime and tips about $300 a month .
Never exceeding $2000 pay .
Interested can everyday see newspaper , apply .
They do accept oldies , as long as u are presentable .
And Singaporeans , speak both English and Mandain , no need to be professor in math , they have a formula to caluclate chips .
My cabby friend for 10 years applied and got it .
Basic $1300 , take home about $1300 .
Yeah something like 14 days leave every year .
Holiday can off-in-lieu somemore .
Yeah about my 13 days pay ...... if i need $1300 , i just need to work 13 days , off 17 days .
My off one year is as good as 204 days base on my calculation .
Not just 14 days .

Worked in Shangrila damn song ..... one of the best job i ever work in .
7.30am start work , given a list of 14 rooms of 27 floor .
Push a trolley room by room , knock and open , and clean the room nice nice clean clean . Satisfactions .
By 4pm finsihed work , Salary $2 per room . Tip about ranging from $2-$30 per room sometimes . Bila Bila $20 tips .
Check out rooms the best ..... all Singapore coins i take .
Just check in room also nice ...... no Singapore dollars , only USD .
ShangriLa Staff food the best . Their lunch and dinner same , solid one .
I serious regretted not to sign with them full time , i was invited to sign with them .. if not i should be in Housekeeper line liao .
I said no .... housekeeping departments also aunties , i dun like working with aunties .

hahaha, back to history again, I think we better think of how to move on, of course the past make what we are today, we learn from it and move on...and today, which is most important, because it shall determine what we are in the future.
and for hotel lines, today it is one of the best and booming, you can get headhunter anywhere, got a PR pinoy friend who work in a local restuarant as captain, with 3k paid, get head hunter by some top up market restuarant, I asked him, say, how much they offer you, and why your old boss never counter offer you, he said his old boss cannot afford to counter offer, because the paid offered by upmarket restuarant is 7k.

Taxi driving is not for everyone lah....if have better job outside and have house commitment better dun step in. Not good money, not good for health. Unless you can afford to earn $50 nett a day then ok. And when you started it is difficult to quit.
Hawker also no good, long hours, more tiring then TD. Very fast up lorry one...

The fitness i'm talking about here is not those to the extreme end, i am not an extremist, and do not believe in it.
Even you are 65yo, when you have a dream, a wish or an intention, go ahead to pursue it, that is living to the fullness, not fool....ness hor.
The employment market despise 40s and above, is not because of their ability, but more on their mentality. These people tends to be over smart, smarter then the boss. The boss always seem stupid and their order always seem irrational.

Quite true, i can said, given a 3k to 4k suitable job, many TDs would had switched.
But our depressive fark up wage structure base on foreigner paid is not going give us much choices.
