Advice from an OMO . New Bird OMO

i have stumbled this website sometime ago before taking up taxi license. a few brothers made some very valueable experiences on taxi hiring.
i have taken up smrt epica as an omo. now deeply regretted it.
daily rental 116 gas 50. total 166. earnings per hour : lowest 20/hr highest 40/hr
so the average would be 30/hr would be a good forecast. and if you want to be more conservative with forecasted earnings, it would be prudent to take the lower band, just below the average per hr at 25/hr.
166 divide by 25 = 6.5 hrs to break even. that means if you start driving at 6am, you will only break even by 12noon. by then, energy levels will be exhausted and morale turned lower.
that means to make a profit you need to drive another 8 hours!

to profit 200 bucksu need to drive another 8hrs! imagine u needto do it everyday!
not forgetting you have weekends too!
but if i can co share with another partner, 166 will be halved at 83. n 83 divide by 25 = 3hrs to breakeven. if started driving at 6am by 9am, u will be breakeven n getting ready to 'chiong' forprofit. so assuming to drive another 7hrs, earnings will be 175 per shift per day.
n weekends can be shared 1day by each partner, so everybody gets some quality off time.
sharing is really the way to go,forsustainable long term driving.
but it is not easy to find a compatible partner. those brothers that advised going against omo is truly correct!
i am going to return my epica prematurely with penalty. i willlook for a partner to work together.

Brother Alex, Are you bonded by the 6 months contract??? In my papa's case, he kena bonded for 6 months to drive epica despite being a SMRT hirer for so many years..... He is driving as OMO, n complains of lower take home profit also!!! So when I officially take my vocational licence, I will be his relief for the next few months before he returns the epica ... then my Wish 2.0 will come liao after he quits SMRT. i omo also,ok!of cos no effort no gain! need to work 14 hrs per day!cover rental usually by 3-3.30 pm.then can chiong the evening peak!i drive Nissan!

I guessed u started really late , like 10am ? Just a guess . Finished 12mn , that 14 hours .
Cedric rental really cheap , something below $80 .... u started late , of course late then can cover rental .
But if fools came back into this thread and tell us , he start 6am , finished evening peak at 8pm , go back .
And when he start 6am , and 3-3.30pm then cover $80 rental ..... fools has some massive massive problems .

then open yourself to more choices of taxis from cdg transcab or even silver .
when chances came .... just go for it .

IIRC, someone also OMO not too long ago with a fire engine plate SHD5xx0. haha
Sometimes it's out of no choice one is forced to be OMO. But before committing, must make yourself an escape route lar, ie. find a relief. If you can afford to lose abit of $$$, throw the vehicle back to company and redeem yourself before you are exhausted.
However I still have to agree with chief that OMO for a newbie is a big NO-NO.

I came so close to being a hirer for SMRT. Why? Cause the thought of having a car at my disposal is very tempting. After reading this forum, I thought twice and now am a relief for Citycab. No regrects here.
This is a good post for newbies who are still thinking about being OMO.

Perhaps alex give yourself a chance .... before u throw in the towel .
find a relief , also same like being relief .
Just that at this point , u seriously need a relief to relieve your burden of working 7 days a week .
I suggest u go www.cabby.sg place your name , and at the same time , submit your resignation ..... cos need two week notice .
In this 2 weeks , if still nobody contact u , give up .
Go for your Plan B . Throw key !!!!!!
