[News] Call for action against errant taxi customers

SINGAPORE: Singapore's National Taxi Association has urged authorities to take action to deter errant customers who assault drivers and evade fares.
The association said it is dismayed with recent assault incidents on taxi drivers by passengers and fare evasions.
It is asking the Land Transport Authority and Traffic Police to prosecute such customers so that a message of strong deterrence can be sent.
The association said in cases of disputes, taxi drivers and passengers are encouraged to resolve the situation through the relevant authorities and taxi companies, instead of taking the law into their own hands.
The association said it is providing the necessary assistance to help taxi drivers who have been involved in disputes.

Should follow other develop countries inside cab CCTV. Pax might argue no privacy, i don't think there is any more privacy in this world, u see cctv everywhere, in bus, in lifts, under void decks, on roads, etc.
Do like other cab companies in the world, CCTV videos not accesible by the cab drivers, only by company when an incident happens, so cab drivers can't anyhow post videos on YouTube or STOMP.

It summed up the taxi companies' attitude towards taxi drivers throughout these years .
Taxi companies think hard how to squeeze TD hard earn money , same like TP and LTA .
That's why cannot give chance to passengers one , got chance whack .

What we suffered now , it's all due to past generations drivers , they kena , they just let go culprits .
Then culprits became more daring .
Then more and more victims , could be anyone among us .
Dun be selfish ..... u stop them , as good as stop others .

Only Comfort (CDG) comes closest by having LTA approved cameras in Taxis. Cameras are not free though. It costs hirers $350 to have an approved camera installed.
Videos cannot be viewed or edited by taxi drivers. Recording is only front view. Still no inside Cab view even though videos cannot be viewed by taxi drivers. Guess LTA does not even trust CDG staff to view inside cab videos.

Fark lah, NTA will try to push LTA and TP to procecute those errant pax. I dun think so a new law will be pass out. NTA bo power, taxi coys keep quiet, law and order only maintain by police job, TP only take summon nia. Install front and rear camera? Wait long long from taxi coy, cous they having their 'hard' time launching their new or rent out their exsisting taxis. Same as to LTA's own problems cropping up too. -

Fark lah, all these talk only, no action, NTA now has over 13000 members, each paid $9 per month, you go figure out how much they take in per month just by talking.
And with such talk, they hope to get more member, the more the merrier

to me, they share the same entity, they work closely together, and are after the same objective.
NTA role is to, highlight the problem
Media role is, to further enhance the problem, creating fear
CDG role is to, provide a solution (of course at the expenses of Taxi Driver and pass down to Commuter)
LTA role is, to approve and endose the solution
This is enhance from S E L L tactic, when put it into selling their car camera for example, can you see the power.

NTA was born from Taxis companies, without taxis companies, NTA do not even exist, get it?
Every years, beside member fees collection, Taxis companies will also sponsor NTA with money thru dinner and other events, this allow the taxis companies in a way prove that they care for the driver's association and also work with them. So, by creating such a body, things can get done easier instead of going thru parties of them here and there, they just said, oh, NTA had agreed to this and that...end of the story.

Wrong or right road, you also cannot assault others and do not paid a single cent mah, at least give people a living mah. So you go hawker centre, assult the meepok seller and did not pay for the meepok, can or not, even tho the meepok is not up to your taste, the most you pay and dun come back and eat lah, or tell others about the bad food.Now why TD are alway the main peoples to get assault, because we are alway alone, and most of us are old, or mid agers, and our back is alway facing the pax, and that is why we are easier prey than other business/workman. It just take a drug addict or a drunken or an illegal migrants or a mad person like ah pool's pui chee, then we are in trouble liao.

how about those paxs who gave a lame excuse u purposely took a roundabout route,then pay u less then the fare shown on the taximeter,u think can report police?my foot!pax even dare u to report!nothing the police or coy will do anything!so paxs keep using this trick to pay less!andn the worse r the locals cos they know all the loopholes to take!
