HK td are millionaires,not Spore td!

HK td own their taxi cab. they bot the taxi licence fr Govt,& it is for life & is also transferable. Over time in 5-10 yrs this licence appreciate alot, SELL the licence for good profit& retire. Spore why can not follow HK as Govt always like to fo;;ow HK in many policies. If allow I will borrow to buy a few licence for my children & grandchildren.

Our government are smart
they make us rich, paper rich (asset rich), eg. our property, can we sell away our property and sleep on the street with lots of cash?
to be Cash Rich and able to retire early...... no no
not for a low level job at least, low level job make up a big population, Singapore need us to keep working, contribute till death.
Face it, there is nothing to built as a Taxi Driver. It is merely a job, a job for transit.
There's a saying in chinese, "riding a cow and look for a horse", Taxi is a cow, indeed a good cow.

pls lah... you think the bank will lend you the money? each license cost HK$4 million, so it is around S$633 649.... . if singapore introduce this, what will be the rental be? You can go hong kong now and borrow money to buy the licenses lah... no one is stopping you...
btw, most of the HK taxi driver did not own the cab. they rent it from the license holders...

Taxi license are traded like stocks, u can buy and sell it in the open market in HK. So it can go up and it can go down. The license is not like COE, COE goes with the vehicle. The HK license is for life and it stays wt owner until sold. It is also divided into New Territories and Kowloon/HK license. Like what Lemon say, how many people can come at HKG4-5 mil??? Only big companies can buy and lease out taxi. Imagine how much interest u have to pay if u borrowed S$700,000!!! What bank will lend u that type of money? The grass always looks greener on the other side.
