Blame the stupid idiots in LTA who came up with road naming and design.
Every road all got Angmoh name never mind, then got street, walk, way and drive. Why cannot be drive 1 to 7 or avenue 1-8 and street11. 21. 31. etc?
Then look at the design, Every road meets an intersection every 500m to 800m or so. And no green flow. You wait at red at 1, green, drive to the next, that turns red also!
Really stupid planning, so many red lights. Imagine we TDs already find it tough, how about people taking the bus to work or school? To get out of the stupid estate will take them 30 minutes I think with all the start, stop.
Brilliant work LTA.
punggol sengkang my base... its takes a resident to understand the roads... agree with the traffic lights road planning is poor... sk n punggol is like grids... green go straight, if red turn first lol. our atas govt like to name new towns this way... more class like real only... all the blk clusters got names like punggol arcadia... compassvale atrina, aspella, ass la
all the pax who stay there only how to use KPE and dunno how to drive n jam up the whole place.... with so many hdbs n condo coming up that place.. the entrance to the hole will get even slower.. n govt will switch on the ERP soon whenever u wanna use that hole
I also agree sengkang is a horrible place to navigate. Once drop pax I confirm must refer streetdirectory for directions.
LTA cock la...hahaha..
ur notice the bus lane outside raffles hotel..
i nvr see any bus using the bus lane, somemore is RED bus lane..
sengkang ez la, just nid to rem blk start with 1xx, 2xx or 3xx...
Punggol, Sengkang, Bukit Panjang all have one thing in common....That's why they dun use name like other estates that divide the estate into Aves and Streets. This is to confuse TD and make them dun like to come. That's why this part of island very few taxi available.
The thing in common is what you guys know? LRT!!!! Less taxi come so the residence LLST must take their lousy LRT services....GET IT!!!

Haha....last time bo KPE, only AMK Ave 5 or TPE to go in and out......
TC hide at big carpark bid call, than CDG also hide there until enforcement officer everyday come spot check.......
Most paxs living in sengkang also understand TD difficulties in finding the location, most will guide you, however, once they drop off, you can be having a problem there, learn to take punggol road and SK east road as your division of River, Compass and Anchor, for Fern, it belong to jalan kayu that side.
Punggol is not as bad as sengkang, it is more squarish and easier, the funny thing about SengKang is every road and scenarios look like the same, so you tends to get disorientated,

Not difficult lah....
Start by remembering sk is divided into 4 bands: (jln kayu) fernvale, (sungei punggol) anchorvale, (sengkang east road) compassvale (punggol road) & rivervale (sengkang east drive).
Until today, I'm having problems with woodlands: drives, ave, street, ring, crescent, circle??!!
what seng ar ?
Lim Bo Seng i know . .
That time after send pax to fernvale road... Drop liao mdt ring! On the way tO compassvale So many pax on road flagging... .. SK really lack of cabs...
If you think carefully, if got many red lights, than must also have many green lights, and many amber lightts.
I still feel the olde British were better in building up Singapore than modern Singaporeans.
They are thoughtfull about building airy and well ventilated buildings suitable for the tropical climate.. Singaporeans build heat traps suitable for the tropics and then install aircoditioners. And their ability to give roads names, more super than any locals.
Imagine during British time, there are names like Jalan Ayam Bogel, Lorong Yew Lian, Kaypoh Road, Pheng Geck Avenue, Mata Road, Perumal Road, Woo Mon Chew Road, Stagmont Ring, Abbotsingh Road. Must be those angmo consult the locals in giving road names.
Come to our time, we have Street 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Avenue 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, Road 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and with North South East West can have all the roads named without any effort, Just put the town name infront. Absolutely no consultation with the citizenry!

Singapore not ang moh country why the roads got mother fucking ang moh names?
This will alienate the local people. This is wrong way of naming roads. It is not the right way.

All these garbage names must be destroyed. It's not the right way.

Actually most of the olden road names based on kampong names and also names of the person who own the piece of load that go thru the road. Some roads are named after what industry is there at that time.
Kreta Ayer Road, Kreta is car in malay, Ayer is water add together car water. Why car water? check out the wiki explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreta_Ayer_Road

10yrs back my friend in LTA already told me, every new road will be english name with little or no historical value, hence Rivervale, Compassvale, etc. Since in Singapore garment own the land no road will be named after a person, unless they in the garment lor... hehehe, lucky my family side still own a piece of land at tanah merah kechil and don't want to give it up..
