isit the drivers suck?
Techo, dont get me wrong, same as what I said to my brudder ahtanlor...
You are assuming that you have the right of way because YOU are following the rules.
Have you ever thought of, What if the other party need to rush to Hospital because it is life or death for them.
What if a Government Special Visitor needs to get to the Airport, and is blessed by TP to travel at that speed.
What if a person need to rush to Changi Hospital because his father is having his last breath at the hospital before he die.
Many what if's.....
Yes, when the car was passing, you saw that they are 2 idiots,
But before they pass, you do not know who they are that need to pass.

Did you confront the guy?
Hope you did not....
This ass "ice "is a real pain in the ass!u r not welcome in taxi driver forum!
There is nothing wrong for a person to travel on first lane at the speed limit destinated, by law.
We are too much into law ( maybe we had been rule by a lawer for 47years) and almost forgotten about ethics (or etiquette).
Road hogger are good example, they proclaim that they done nothing wrong against the law, as long they remain at the speed limit, it is ok to hold up one, or even hundred of car behind him. This is also Uniquely Singapore.
Where are the road etiquette? Think many do not even know the existence of such word.

if he's in a life and death rush, he would hv overtaken me anytime.
It's the way they tailgate and the continuously horning like saying: get the f*** out of my way.
how would you feel??

Of course we also hv to understand life in singapore, most would agree with me that it is a fast pace and stressful one, therefore, all these act of tailgates or etiquette can get disorientated, end up with frustrating peoples who do funny things out of the normal.
A society that alway want to be nos 1 in this and that will certainly breed class differentiation such as tail gating and expect you to give way even if you are beyong the speed limit of the lane and the other lane are empty.
You do not see such act in the 70s or 80s, but it start to come about as the society progress more on economy, $$ money and reputation rather than on social consciousness and good civil.
Of course as you move up north, the pace of life is slowly and singaporeans, as visitor or tourist will then to have a happier mood with a better manner on the road.

To me, everybody must be clear about the word "road hogging".
It is must be relative to the speed limit. If you insists that overtaking at 80+ on a 70 kmph road is hogging, then I would like to do 150 also cause I think I can handle that too!
Else to the ace drivers who wanna do 150, everyone else is a hogger.
As for road etiquette, I would suggest some go take training on how to horn, the correct way.

I think you give them too much credit lah...
Hv driven to all corners (except langkawi) up north many times in the last 20 yrs.
It's not etiquette but a sense of reality. You could be beaten up, slashed with a parang and left for dead!
To their credit, there are 2 sides of the coin:
My car skidded and overturned in kedah many years back. Car roof was a total wreck.
At the accident site, villagers were ransacking my car for useful and valuable stuff.
But...the help rendered by others and the hospital to my wife who was hurt was really heartwarming.

Hahaha.....if I carry on "tailgate" which I will, the next who call me will be Mata.....
These day, jiao Kia only will cry mother and cry father.......hair kanna cut also call mata........
人犯我,我犯人。。。。
My fellow singaporeans....hai...im so beginning to understand u all that it makes my driving otr so much easier and im serious...cos min zhu and pride to me is nothing esp when it come to driving but i also do have my fair share of showing my middle finger as well as im after not perfect and still have flaws as a human.
And that part of me is call a short burst of temper at that moment wch i usually cools down using my formula of 10sec. lun lun lun....10sec things becomes more rational after 10sec.(This 10sec i learn from one phychiatrict friend one hor...cos he tell me based on case study most murders and rash act are committed because of the first 10 sec)
Otr, singaporeans only can eat soft not eat hard type of people one...simple hand gesture like sorry(salute) or putting your hand out of window to signal a wait sign do make so much wonder in making making other commuters otr to relent and give way to you.
Same for Bro techo case. Not sure if u had indicate in your signal light to go left...but if you did and took a longer time to go left due to the traffic condition that you describe than im sure the reaction and situation will be much different
sometimes it's not that we don't want to give way,but if second lane full of cars or the road ahead is windy, how to give way!furthermore the idiot behind me keeps high beaming or horning,we also fed up!
