question about accident.( yellow top)

Last month i hit the rear of a car, so they claim from insurance, access is $1.5k which i have to pay, now , the yellow top agent at haig road wants me to pay also for my cab damage=$1k And also lose of rental for her for 6 days while cab being repair in work shop, so total i have to pay= 1.5k + 1k + $ 650 =$3150. Wow! Is this the correct pratice for i have to pay so much? Pls advise , thank u.

Ok I also a bit blur about how they work, so let's just treat this as a normal accident case.
Normall accident if I am not wrong, once you pay access, that should include the damage, is this correct?
Unless of course the excess doesn't cover the repairs, in that case suit could be taken against you by the insurers to settle the rest.
But this is a long drawn out process, and must follow a certain procedure and then some negotiations back and forth.
So what i see, the 1.5k, that one cannot argue, that is gone, the rest is subjective and open to negotiations. I don't think the kiosk can come out with a ballpark figure just like that.
My advise (of course others can and should offer better if I am wrong) , is to forego the excess, that also depends on what the agreement was when signed. If haven't paid the full sum, then pay thru some instalments.
For the rest, ask them to show the insurers letter of demand and take from there. In the meantime, find another cab to drive.
If wanna settle and get this over, offer the excess and make be rental capped at $500 (total 2k), see if they take or not, if not tell them to do a lawsuit, see whether they go-stan or not.
That is my view, please check with others, whether what I say is feasible or correct.

what they charge is not wrong on papers. becos driver obk. to console the driver, this kind of thing happen in any other taxi co. the main difference is can negotiate lump sum or die die 100% or installment

Would suggest that you pore thru whatever document/hiring agreement that you signed and see if all these demands are in order.
If nothing signed, pay the excess already very good liao...
Very reasonable if you repair the damage yourrself...
Loss of rental??? A bit too much lah!

Anyway, for insurance wise, you only pay the access, but since it is kind of a commerical vehicle whereby lost of time is equal to lost of profit. The agent will certainly wants to claim that lost, but then, you have to fully understand your insurance coverage, Taxis insurance is higher than normal car is because of the time spent on the road is more and that it is for commerical purposes.
In any accident, in the laws of the court, the word "Accident" come into the picture, it mean, no intention, not purposely, not wanted it to be, just an accident. Inevitably, accident do happen, it is only more or less. Go thru the insurance contract, for my opinon, you only pay the access of 1.5k.

chief, yes i can just walk off and dun drive for them, but think they will issue me legal letter for not paying, this cab sibeh unlucky, i kana 2 accident within 2 month(1 my fault , 2 audi hit my ass). Night driver also unlucky, hit a china woman when light is in his favour, china woman fault , but hit ppl , lan lan. also must pay, 3 days ago, got a letter from TP, say i minor hit n run at a carpark 2 months ago, which i dun even know. no damage to my cab. I tot of getting a discharge letter from insurance reg this case , what u guys think?
