The LTA will most likely phase out some of the older ( eg. Toyota Crown ) comfort taxis sooner or later. What kind of new comfort taxis would you like to be served with in the near future, provided that the LTA does indeed consider our feedback ?
Here are some of my personal picks, with some fair reasoning;
Pros : Very close to Toyota Camry specifications, but slightly cheaper and sexier.
Cons : Brand- image, poor resale value

Of course, all other suggestions are warmly welcomed too.
It should not be the vehicle.
Taxi should be about providing service.
At present in Singapore, Taxi Driving is a last chance for Singaporeans who fell down the economic cracks.
Taxi driving should be a profession. The taxi driver a professional.

I agree with your statements, especially the last one. A civilization works like a clockwork mechanism. No matter the job, or the pay, progress in any given country is sustainable if and only if EVERYONE plays their part. We can be the richest 1%, but if there are no farmers to grow our food, workers to build our houses, guards to protect our assets and janitors to clean our waste, we're still screwed. Period. The same logic is applicable to taxi drivers. I truly support the motion where taxi drivers should be respected mutually in society.
But I'm not here to debate about the ethics of society or the government policies of any country. This thread is not meant to be taken too seriously, as I have implied in my initial statements. We're just excercising our freedom of speech, that's all.
P.S. Long time no see.

future taxi shld be like armour tank exterior with gd springy bumper so that passenger & driver are safely protected. and if accident involved, both taxi driver and private car have lesser worry as taxi can continue to function as usual.

Firstly, there is no more such thing as poor resale value, korean had in a way make the japanese down on their kneel, most Jap car sale reported less profitable or loss in their P/L report. It is good to see so many of these cars around from different source, competition benefit the consumer at large.
I remember long ago when I visited Borneo Motor to look for toyota brand, the sales guys are as proud as the statue of Stamford Raffles,
Just few week ago,
I just happen to be there for van servicing next door, as I step into their show room, I was immediately treated to a free buffet, free test drive with free gift, end up, I did not buy anything and yet still get a bow and lots of thank you. You could see the competition from the koreans is no joke, from Kia, to hyundai to samsung, LG, you name it.
When I was in Busan, Hyundai Shipbuilding and Yard as a seamen, the koreans told me, their main objective is to beat and down Japan, because by taking down Japan, they know they would had taken the world. So, with that motto, they strive ON.
And FYI, taxi driving is a profession, we do not need to be professional, we are the professional taxi driver, but the problem is, the public in Singapore do not take us as professional TD. So, no matter how you want us to be professional as we already are, if the public do not acknowledge it, some treat us as the lower rung of the society, what can we do?
The only thing today that is non competitive in term of auto industrial, is the COE. A total monopolisation of the govt.

Don't laugh In Indonesia actually got a taxi company that has 2 Ferrari or Lambo as taxi!
Personally I honestly believe that our taxis will 1 day be fleeted with China made cars.
I remember in the 80s and 90s, people mocked Korean cars, now they are of really good standard, not as good as some premium Japanese makes but they can hold their own in most makes.
So Chinese cars will grow in stature. While like many of you, I am somewhat angry with the influx of FTs and like you complain about them (Chinamen), I have nothing but the highest regard for China as an industrial and economic power.
China has grown leaps and bounds, their vehicle and auto industry is bound to follow suit sooner or later, and we know taxi companies will always go for a cheaper model, hence my view of Chinese taxis say in 10-15 years time.
But in no case, should we ever buy Indian made vehicles (that's another story altogether).
talk so much for what , any decent Toyota car can liao .....
No need super luxury , 4 wheels , engine good , that's enough .
Any machines can be as durable as Toyota ?
taxi leh .... need to be fuel consumption as low as possible , less problematic as much as possible , spare parts cheapest and good as much as possible .
Spare parts most important , availability is important , no need indent from oversea .
Go shop buy and pay , fix it , that's it .
On the road again .
Any brand better than Toyota ?
i remember my hirer old 1.8 Wish , left mirror damaged by side swipe ....
Original costing him just one set ..... near to $500 per pair , must buy a pair .
He went Daiha buy , chiong one , think less than $200 including spray of paint work for one .
One day work .
My Honda Fit right mirror knn run whole Singapore cannot get , must get at Honda Kah Motor only .
In the end , authorise dealer do not have mirror for Fit , need to buy a Honda City one pair to change for Fit model , phui .
P/S : Fit's mirror and Jazz's Mirror different design .
Toyota is best, but our companies look at cost, coe, then repairs, so Japanese car hopefully, but I think hard.
Durability is not in today market context, from cars to hp to LCD TV to fridge, washing machine and so on, what is durability, your change hp perhap once a year, you change LCD tv or washing machine with ease, all thanks to samsung, remember the time sony TV and panasonic was selling above thousands TV, now, where are they, if they are to maintaint that kind of price, god bless them.
Singapore Taxi the most go for 7 years, car, 10 years, so what all these imply to you??
To me, it imply a fast changing environment that demand new fleets on the road, 5 years ago there was no casino, no this and that, 5 years later, you even got a Garden, a cruise centre and so on, it is a fast changing world in Singapore, I remember once a Chinese premier said, "Everytime I come to Singapore, I cannot recognise it, it seem like changing all the while"
It also imply a money market of loan and interest, which ultimately, keep churning the wheels of the economy.
Those who drove taxis will know ..... how good different is .
Actually any Thailand made Toyota good enough for Singapore use .
Like in Malaysia , many Thai made Toyota on the road .
Also they drive until no tmr .
The problem it's still the LTA .
No all Thai made toyota can be on our road due to specifications of the car , like must be Euro5 engine , phui .
So down to a few models only .
Cheap and Euro5 ?
Koreans .
What Poolman you up so early today, off ah?
Me off, sleep only a bit, in Olympic mood!
Still imprinted with Toyota mindset I also start with toyota crown, very impressive indeed.
Why toyota and Nissan make thailand the detroit of Asia, because of cheap labour, within the cost of Japanese wage bills, toyota and Nissan cannot make it, and fyi, Nissan is now under Renault, so in order to stay competitive, they had shifted to Thailand their assembly lines. The money generated still flow back to Japan.
In 70s and 80s, with Deming productivity ideology, the Japanese are no doubt, nos 1, but since 90s, because of the change in their youth thinking, whom are not as hardworking with a samurai attitude like their father, work less and are more interested in animation, av models, PS3 and so on than in engineering, and at the same time demanded higher wages, till now, the Jap is underperforming. Of course, cheap labour in china do play a part. And FYI, Volvo is now Under China, who will think of that 10 years ago?

Fair enough. Although the initial motion in my first post specified '' comfort (budget) '' taxis, there is no reason why we should oppose '' VIP (luxury) '' taxis for countries and cities with high- per capita income like Singapore. There is clearly a market for such a service.
For example, like in Moscow ;
