Hi all taxi old birds, i am new here and i have just passed my tdvl today awaiting LTA and SMRT to send me my license. I would like to seek come advice here as i had seen alot of kind tips given to new ppl. Currently i have a few option that i need you to advice on
1) Take a new taxi from SMRT driving as an OMO for a daily overhead of near $180-$190/day driving as an OMO for 14 hours/day.
2) Take a new taxi from SMRT driving with a relief driver for a daily overhead of $110-$120/day driving for 12 hours/day.
3) Find a hirer from anywhere in the west to test the market for a daily overhead of $110-$120/day driving for 12 hours/day.
As a newbie here, i would like to ask which option would suit a new TD the best as not to overburden myself and meet the daily overhead and also bring bread to my table. i would also be investing in a good GPS as im only familiar with about 60% of the singapore routes.
Please advice.

Today i good mood, hit target ,keep early..... so can give you this 3 words
BE A RELIEF
If you are good with routes all around singapore, go for option 1 in your list.
If not, go for option 3 in your list.
Join cdg sonata as a relief... Can earn more $$$ due high vol of booking... I also newbie but i think cdg ok le so far no complain... But the other relief driver kiss backside need pay 1k.. By installment heard $250 every 2 weeks from my hirer.. Monday send workshop.. Wed collect liao..
If i was given the marketing job for SMRT , i really dunno how to sell SMRT taxis , what is their selling point ?
Call so low volume , diesel kisok so limited , benefit so low , diesel not cheap from their bulk pruchase .
Cashless also not so effective like CDG .
Only thing i can sell to drivers was that SMRT will pay for their courses ..... so simple to con newbies cos newbies do not know ( it's their own money afterall ) .
U need a super marketing officer to sell a $117 taxi Epica vs a rental $104 Sonata .
I dun no what's the problem with being a relief ?
Poolman is a relief , do you guys know ?
Aiyo ...... relief lah .
Comfort so many hirers looking for relief .
Enjoy life one relief .
OMO sometime of the week is slave to taxi company .
Relief shiokadoo one ....
I "interviewed" many , including Komade when he first drove a cab .
Now those who got "interviewed" by me , all Tok Kong one .
Patrick Poh has to be "interviewed" by me hahahahah .
I love being Poolman ....
An unoffical consultant for newbies hahahah

SMRT have first hand "business opportunity" information.
That alone beat all their rival.

alamark, when the word "Brother" become "Bros", it is showing how "close" the relation is..... but yours become "br"....... pool only worth 2 letter.
In the past, when people call me "brother", my reply is........."when did my father "f" your mother?"
In the present, when people call me "bros". my reply is ......... "are you telling me i'm not even worth for a full word, brother"

Oh ...... thought u coming back to me ?
hhahaha miscommunication .
patrick,
1) be a relief, rental cut by half. 4 hr cover rental & fuel cost liao. do ur maths... (but most likely need to drive night shift). at least try it out first. if you decide to rest rental also half only not so siong.
2) join cdg, comfort or city both also can, easier to look for another hirer if kena eat by them. their diesel kiosks everywhere also got, smrt only woodland depot (close after 7pm) and geylang only.
3) comfort citycab more bookings than any other co. if u driving night why worry kena go "holland"? with the peak surcharge extended all the way to midnight?
4) if u want to join smrt cos of the course fee refund, forget it lah, what is $286? I join them because of that and till now still regreted! pui!
Everyone advise a TD to be relief.
Without hirer got relief driver???
principal bcl, u hirer or relief??
