More & more taxi on the road. Longer & longer Q at AP,MBS,RWS. Carbon emission tax is on the way(most probably next yr),so add to TD & pax burden by paying more,thus lesser business. LTA working on each taxi has to clock more hrs running on the road,so all those OMO will have to get relief drivers to take over the idling time park o/nite. This ruling means more taxi on the road,be it in am or nite shift.

taxi drivers and pax paying more, the only ones benefitting is the greedy self centred govt the MIW.
Good lah, vote for them over and over again to have tough and tougher times ahead.

OMO they cannot be bother lah. Logic is simple. OMO means less mileage less wear and tear less maintainence. My neighbour also CDG Limo OMO. Seldom drive cos he got other business. Use the car as private transport. Sometimes rental also no needs cover. Think he OTR only 3-4hr a days. So many years already still like that. I ask him he says as long as rental swee swee the rest they dun bother. His Mercs(got it as new car) same as mine 2007 model my mileage 800K++km his only 400K++km nia. Lol

The q is LTA will step in w this new order. Every taxi must cover X km a mth if not compulsory rtn to taxi company, so yr neighbour TD happy days nearing to the end if he still cover so few km a mth.

Dun think LTA so stupiak. If every OMO hirer start to return taxi, the taxi co P&L will suffer too. SMRT & Comfort, who the owner right at the top??
My guess is it will be another incentive based thingy. U cover x km daily, u get something but dunno wat!!

Start of august only , the whole town is dead at 2 am.

Not only TD, in fact, most trade also suffer, after the olympic, you see countries going back to finanical problem again, there is a major problem brewing down in europe, like it or not, it will burst one of these day.
Now is bad times, and the coming will be worst. The only thing is help yourself to learn a set of new skill and save for raining days.

t But Govt doubt what u say. Look at the sales fr travel agencies,breaking records, Coming NATAS will be another record for $ turnover. -

Today saw 5 taxi waiting at Alexandra Hospital taxi stand, around 11 am. Took feeder bus to Queenstown MRT, my God! 8 taxi Q there.

For touring, you hv to understand the singapore capacity and singaporean mentality, in term of capacity, this is a concrete jungle planted with trees and flowers, there isn't much you can do, and beside, going holiday at sentosa is going to cost you more than going to Bangkok. Therefore, in a nutshell like singapore, what more can you do??And then coupled with stress and tireness from all job including TD, all of us need a break, the most popular thing singaporean do is eating and going overseas for tour.
Unlike in china or even malaysia, you can see their own people touring other provinces or states without even the need to leave their country, what we have here is very artificial, from BT timah reserve to Bedok reservoir, you get nothing much, in term of historical site, almost all renewed, in term of cost, we are one of the most expensive beside maybe Japan.
And that is why you see many at Natas, not that every one got money than can go overseas, today airfare and travelling is just like AirAsia, everyone can fly.

They are competing w the more than 12,000 taxi driving nite shift(Spore has about 28,000 taxi,about 45% are OMO) u can already count there are least than 10 places to Q for pax during grave yard shift. -

juz drive down orchard rd about 3am...
u see a lot of make shift taxi stand... plus the real taxi stands... definately more den ten...
funny thing is... those real taxi stands got no pax de...
but those make shift taxi stands... a lot of pax de... why ah?
