Tey as a judge before, is fully aware of procedural impropriety. I don't want to speculate too much on anything yet, but if you can challenge the way CPID operates to obtain both "confessions", why not ? That by itself can either buy him more time, or have the entire case thrown out altogether.
Anyways, whether or not they were gifts or sex for grades, that would be the next issue Tey will focus on. Lets just all sit back.. relax .. and enjoy the show.
He is only wasting tax payer money -__-

Tey Tsun Hang to call 17 witnesses in sex-for-grades trial
SINGAPORE: The law professor accused of corruption in a sex-for-grades trial will be calling 17 witnesses to his defence.
Tey Tsun Hang was in the Subordinate Courts on Monday for a closed-door meeting to decide on the defence witness list.
The 41-year-old said he will call five witnesses to testify in the "trial within a trial".
Of
the five, three of them are doctors. The other two are Simon
Chesterman, Dean of the National University of Singapore's law faculty,
and Professor Tracey Evans Chan, Tey's colleague.
Another 12,
including Tey's former student and current Assistant Registrar at the
Supreme Court, Colin Seow, is expected to be called to the stand as
defence witnesses in the main trial.
Tey said staff of NUS law faculty are expected to be called to the stand as well.
A
trial within a trial is called to determine the admissibility of Tey's
six statements to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. Tey said
those statements were made under duress and are not admissible.
When
the first tranche of the corruption trial ended in late January,
prosecution asked for its trial within a trial case to be left open.
This is for it to decide if it intends to call any other witnesses.
The defence case for this is expected to start when the trial resumes in April.
From
the defence side, Tey is expected to be the first to testify in the
trial within a trial. The judge will then decide on the admissibility of
the statements and the main trial will begin after that.
The trial resumes on April 1 and is expected to last three weeks.
Tey
faces allegations of obtaining gratification in the form of gifts and
sex from former student Ms Darinne Ko, 23, between May and July 2010, in
return for giving her better grades.

The sex-for-grades trial against National University of Singapore (NUS) law professor Tey Tsun Hang,
41, resumed Monday in court as Tey alleged a Corrupt Practices
Investigation Bureau (CPIB) investigator of pressurising him to "a sense
of hopelessness" with off-the-cuff remarks during the interrogation
process.
New evidence presented before the court – time logs of
visitor entry and exit by CPIB security officers – showed
inconsistencies with Tey’s departure timings on three days of
interrogation in 17, 18 and 24 May last year. This was matched with taxi
receipts Tey had of the trips he made after the investigation.
These
inconsistencies led to periods of up to 90 minutes between the end of
the statement recording and the time of Tey’s depature. Tey alleged that
in these periods, CPIB investigator Teng Khee Fatt held him up in his
office and made threats to Tey, including bringing up the Official
Secrets Act, to get him to sign his interrogation statements.
Teng
retorted by saying that the long periods were used by Tey to examine
his statements before signing them. He explained that there were more
than 20 annexes for Tey to examine on the first day, although Tey said
his statement had only two and a half pages on the last day of
investigations.
After being held in his office on one of the
sessions, Tey said that Teng escorted him to the CPIB security post and
said, “You only got 1 per cent chance of survival. Try not to blow it
up.”
When probed by Tey, he alleged Teng of smirking before
saying, “We close to 100 per cent success, you know.” Tey alleged that
fear was inflicted upon him during and after interrogations.
Teng denied allegations of all threats Tey accused him of. When asked by Tey, Teng said, “I don’t practice good cop or bad cop.”
Tey represents himself in court as defence attorney. The trial resumes in the afternoon.

(bcos he spoke hokkien in court!)
SINGAPORE: The NUS law professor involved in a sex-for-grades corruption trial said in court Tuesday that investigation officers from the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) badgered him into making confessions at a time when he was vulnerable.
Tey Tsun Hang, 41, is defending himself against six counts of corruptly obtaining gratification in the form of gifts and sex from his then-student Darinne Ko Wen Hui, 23, between May and July 2010 in return for lifting her grades.
Tey took the stand for a second day on Tuesday to present his side of the story.
The former district judge maintained that officers from CPIB had intimidated and hurled English and Hokkien vulgarities at him when he was hauled into CPIB for questioning in 2012.
Tey was brought in for questioning on 2 April 2012, but was admitted to Alexandra Hospital later on in the day after cracking under CPIB's interrogation.
He was then hospitalised until 5 April 2012.
Tey recounted in court Tuesday how he went back to CPIB for more questioning despite being ill and in a vulnerable state.
He is currently contesting the admissibility of his CPIB statements, saying that they were made under duress.
The court will then decide if his statements are admissible at the end of the “trial within a trial”.
The main trial will then start after this.
