About the event and MDAS
SMU-UOB Life SWIM 2009 is a charity swim organised by Singapore Management University’s (SMU) !nspirar, a student-led community service group, in collaboration with UOB Life to raise funds, and more importantly, to raise awareness for MDAS. You can make a difference by signing up at our website, and swimming your heart out for these zesty individuals.
MDAS is a recognised volunteer welfare organization which was formed in March 2000. Muscular Dystrophy comprises a large group of muscle diseases which affects the muscles of sufferers, affecting their strength and ability to move. It can affect anyone, at any age, without warning. More severe types of muscular dystrophy can even cause death. MDAS is committed to uplift the lives of sufferers of Muscular Dystrophy by providing services and programmes for them. The SWIM slogan, “Making Waves”, shows our community’s support towards these brave individuals who have not given up on life despite their handicaps.
