Also, the response of the fans isn't so much down to the anti-Chelsea/pro Man U mistaken notion you have, it's with the culture of the English fans to easily pan anyone for any reason. It has been no secret that Lampard has not been producing the same performance for England as he does for club level but it isn't from lack of trying. The English fans/press are just too cruel.
Lampard might not have had a good performance, but the English press and fans in particular have become highly critical of Lampard after his profile got raised after Euro2004. The English fans seemed to have forgotten the hard work and effort Lampard put in to get there in the first place. Not forgetting his contributions prior to making himself a 'big name' so to speak. -

I have mentioned before in an earlier post, it's not so much about anti-Chelsea or pro-Man U, but Lampard was one of those being blamed for England's below-expectation performance at WC. Moreover and especially of late, he has not produced the same performance he has at Chelsea.
Besides, why should it even bother you, you're not even a real Chelsea fan. -

Other than Beckham for his outstanding form of late and Cole on the left, players like Aaron Lennon (when fit), Stewart Downing should be given chance to play anyway. They can't develop as wingers on the international level if they aren't given chance to play. -
