Question about Majong

hi guys,
I encounter this case: I throw 1 wan but my down people eat the card but he took wrong card 4 wan. In the end he zi mo.
I told him he mistake liao the card I hit is 1 wan and not 4 wan ( he claim that I should have told him straight away when he took the wrong card ).
to my own view I still think he �胡. ( cos he took the wrong card ).
do share your view. Our stake is rather high and house rule stated we not allow to say out other people mistake during the game.

this is a case of �胡, no questions about it.
in the 1st place, we are not obliged to say out if someone make a mistake. sometimes ppl tend to forget to take their cards that they eat or pong, or they take the wrong card.
the house rules is already set that u all are not supposed to say out if there's a mistake, then he should follow the rules, and pay up the penalty for �胡.
@ ItchyArmpit, i think what he meant was that, he didnt voice out that mistake when his friend took the wrong card. he only told him that he took the wrong card after he zi mo. and his friend said he should have told him straight away that he made a mistake, which by right shouldnt be the case. :D

Personally if he has 2 3 wan and requires a 1 or 4, it does not matter to me that much whether he took a 1 or a 4 since ultimately his tiles are still correct and will still win no matter what. However if he took the 4 wan and use it in a way that the 1 wan cannot be used then obviously it is a za hu

dkcx, yea i agree with u personally it doesnt matter. but taking the wrong cards may change a game.

Since the cards thrown can't be used anymore and all cards thrown or used are on the table for all to see, i don't feel it will change anything about the game since the 4 wan originally was already thrown already.

hmm dkcx u know the game right? when the tiles to be drawn is about 7 1/2, there is this "bao" right, where if u throw out a card that isnt in the pool, and someone games from that card, u have to pay for all right?let's say, if he take 4wan and eat, and by 7 1/2 tiles, there is no 4wan in the pool, and if u are already listening and u know u have a chance to zi mo or game, then suddenly u draw a 4wan. 4wan is not in the pool, therefore most of the time, u will not want to throw it out and keep it instead to prevent yourself from getting "bao".
this is where it will change your game, from u listening to cards, to not being able to game.

but even when i play with my family members, we also go by the rules. once za hu mean za hu. no questions abt it. lol

that's one reason i try not to play. when sitting on the table, there's no relationship. You can always talk about them after the game and I alway take the chips as plastic until after the game. -
If it's family, just point it out the moment you see it. Let your family member amend the mistake made, then carry on the game.
If playing with outsiders.. different story.

I play with old ppl, must be understanding. If don't play with them, they really got nothing much to do. Mahjong is 1 of the few things that makes them work their brains and prevents from alzheimer's disease
