Most people like dogs becos they are obedient. Cats are independent and we got to please them rather. The effect is mutual rather than ownership.
for me I can't have dogs due to my religion..
the only thing I scared will be my sofa if i'm gonna have cats..

Then try not to have sofa. I wrapped the sofa cushion with plastic sheet so I wash only the sofa casing if the cats decided to be naughty.
yeah, my p-membership is confirmed aka extended liao!!..
wat I meant was, i scared they will scratch my sofa; gotta have a few scratching posts..

Give then a tall rough pole chair, they simply love to scratch that.
does scratch posts work..
most impt thing I'll only adopt a cat if its toilet/litterbox trained..

They will find a piece of rough wood that is study like table or chair legs. Scratch post is too flimsy and they usually don't like. So I place a tall wooded chair for them to scratch.
may just find myself some wood and make a nice stable yet strong scratch post..
so far ur cats all litterbox trained..
