are schools allowed to do this?

  so can the school BAN a student from taking a particular subject during the O levels? .. when the registration of the papers were already done.
  
  cuz currently. my school is threatening the 4E cohort that they will BAN us from taking a particular subject if we don't score well enough during the prelims (subjects like pure sciences and amaths). The worst part is that most of my schoolmates are left with ONLY 6 subjects now. Which means they will no longer be eligible for JC education if the school were to force them to drop yet another subject. Which we can't afford.
  
  so will the MOE step in to help when the student/parents refuse to obey the instruction of the sch? (refuse to drop)...
  
  My friends are pretty concern/worried with this issue.
  
  can someone help?

  anw, my sch also got threaten b4 but its not allowed..
  they cant prevent u from entering the exam u have registered and paid for.
  however, if u like really weak in the subject,
  a absent on the cert would look alot nicer than a f9.

  They can't force you to do anything. If you have paid and have that subject on your entry prove, you can be able to enter the examination hall. If they want insist of banning you all from the subject even after you all have paid.

  aiyah, they always use this to scare ppl. 99% of the time they won't really do it, and if they do, they make sure u sign an agreement on it.

  this actually happened last year i think . Students were barred from entering the examination hall simply because of their long hair .

  i normally never go school 1, so hair is kinda long, fringe is like over the chin liao...
  today go back school, teacher say also never say anything..

  they can't ban you from taking any examination, but they will discourage you from taking that exam, as it will affect the school rating.......
