Sheffield United midfielder Michael Tonge is poised for a return to action after well over a month on the sidelines.
The 23-year-old schemer has not featured for the Blades since the 2-0 home defeat by Chelsea on October 28, having sustained both ankle and knee injuries.
However, Tonge was close to earning a place in the squad for the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Monday and is in contention for the weekend clash with Wigan Athletic.
Boss Neil Warnock confirmed: "There's a good chance Michael will be involved at Wigan. He's down for selection anyway.
"He could have been involved on Monday, but I thought it was a little bit too soon."
Tonge has been with the Blades for more than six years and has scored 21 goals in 225 appearances for the Bramall Lane club.
