VJC OR ACJC?
Hello!
I've recently gotten my Olvl results, raw 9, nett 5.
Of course VJ's arts is 5 so mine is borderline so it means i may or may not get in.
I'm conflicted which JC to put for my first choice though.
I've been aiming for AC since the start of Sec 4 because of its performing arts scene, its string ensemble, its culture, the campus.
I went for their camp too so I already know some people there.
The problem is i live in the east. I heard many others saying its tough to do well in JC so a nearer school will allow you to study more/rest more.
To be honest i've never aimed for VJ because i didn't expect 5 for my results.
I know the string ensemble there and performing arts scene there is good too but idk much about the school..
Also, VJ has no Music Alvls, which i'm still deciding whether to take or not.
I've also heard bad points about these 2 schools culture eg. AC has snobs and VJ has closet-muggers.
Is that true?
Please give me advice, thankyou!
thanks for replying! hmm i'm not considering tj cause of personal reasons.. in your opinion, distance vs interest? also i heard vj is more of sports and science while ac is arts and music, and i'm more of arts. but of course, vj is a better school.
wa compeitition damm fierce.
can anyone tell me the requirments for industrail design, business itelligence and analytics?and information technology too.
i am setting my targets now
the time taken to travel u can perhaps study a couple more chapters or allow u to rest more
imagine after a long day in sch and u take an hour to get home, by tt time peng san oredi. no mood for anything.
have u considered the subj combi the schs offer?
maybe tt will help u to decide whether to choose the one tts further or nearer.
JC is oni 2 yrs.
minus the hols and exam periods, u are oni in it for like, 1 yr.
if u are toking abt enjoying or dabbling much in CCAs..........
Can anyone tell me the percentage of poly students that can enter Uni? i am not sure if it is 10% or 15%

I am sorry to inform that these data are incorrect.
According to last year, approximately 15% of the poly graduates met the minimum GPA criteria and applied to the three local universities(NuS/NtU/SmU), approximately 1/3 of the applications were successful. Overall, only 5.2% of the poly graduates managed to be admitted into one of the 3 local universities.
Hi! I got l1r5-13 raw...9 if minus bonus points..
i wonder if i can get into ajc or acjc....cos the jcs seem rether gud..i may like to take business or medicine in the future..would be good to noe the subject combi i can take in both schs..ty :)
usually top 5% of each poly can go "directly" to the 3 state unis
(now got 4th one)

breakdown of ur subj and grades?
if distance is a consideration, where do u stay?
Hey Guys, my score is:
EL - b4
ELit - b3
combhumans - c5
emath - a1
amath - a1
physics - b3
chem - b3
L1R5 - 14
L1R4 - 11
I'm thinking of entering a jc.
Here are my possible choices:
School - Estimated travelling time
SRJC - abt 40 mins
YJC - abt 50 mins
PJC - abt 1 hr
IJC - abt 1hr
TJC - abt 1hr
it's more or less the same amount of time, so which school would be better?
If i deduct 4 pts from my raw score, 10 would place me in a chance in cjc right?
P.S. I'm opting for the science stream.
Kindly advise! Thanks!:D
ur L1R5 shd be 15
i think u can go SRJC or YJC if opt sci
go poly oso good.
u can take engin.

oops i missed out chinese a2
but if poly i think i will take business or food nutrition.
I want to be a nutritionist but singapore's food related courses have a heavier emphasis on food science.
OMG! 5.2% of the poly graduates admitted to the 3 Uni! That is like so "WTF".What about the remaining Poly grads who met the minimum requirement. This is so unfair! I really hope the goverment do something about it or i will in 2016.
VJ alot chio bus and shuai ges
Hey guys,
got my results. Not that happy but it'll do for me.
L1R4 9
L1R5 13.
these scores are before i minus off my 2 bonus points.
JC or Poly guys?
i got an a in everything except my chem and chinese.
i dont take amaths and my sciences are pure physics and chemistry.
so right now my dilemma is whether i should go to JC or a Poly.
In a poly i most probably can take some good courses but right now i am not really interested in any particular course and i know once i get to a course that is what i will probably study in UNI.i dont think i can make a choice of what i want to do for the rest of my life right now.And what about the route from poly to UNI?i heard that it is really hard.
In a JC however since i do not take Amaths i most probably will have to take Arts stream.I dont really mind as my humanities are not bad. However im unsure of the fact that if the A levels are equally bad as the ones in the science stream. Also,i have no idea what economics is about so i really need some advice. And the fact that if you fail your A levels and become a goner doesnt help either. Also,a levels are definitely worse than my O's.
so right now i am totally undecided.any help guys?
thanks

You will not make it into ACJC.
Medicine requires at least H2 Chemistry and another H2 Science, while Business requires Mathematics.

There are also a lot of Junior College
students with results that meet the "minimum requirement" but do not
manage to get a place in the 3 state universities.
While I'm shocked by the statistics too, I'm quite sure it's not unfair.

Curious, frekiwang- where did you get your data from?
This is the closest article I found

As a former O' Level Music student from ACS, I understand the appeal that ACJC might have to you. But in my opinion, VJC will be the better option for you.

错了 lor!
My JC nobody to see one.
innova and pioneer which better? i got l1r5 13, can minus 2. althought ijc nearer. is distance very crucial? difference only 30mins like that in travel.
Hi guys!
Here's my results:
All subjects except Chinese get A2.
L1R5: 12(raw), 10(nett)
Not interested in poly though.
L1R4:9
Thinking of applying mjc sci stream as 1st choice (COP: 9), so do you think I can make it?
Chose mjc as it is very near to my house. Secondary choice would be TPJC's science stream. (very near to my secondary school)
