Hi , I have a maths problem ,trying to teach my student who have never learn proportion before .just wondering how to solve it
If Beth feeds her goldfish 14 fish pellets a day, a tin of pellets will last 20 days.If she feeds her goldfish 8 fish pellets a day instead, how many more days will the same tin of pellets last?
use real life examples
if student has 10 sweets, he/she can finish all in 1 day.
or 1 sweet a day, and can eat for 10 days
if 2 sweets a day, can last for 5 days
(multiply or divide accordingly)
bring the sweets and demo.
1 pellet a day would last 14 x 20 = 280 days
8 pellets a day would last 280 / 8 = 35 days
feed less pellets means can last for more days
35 - 20 = 15 more days
