I decided to spent some time posting Combined Science Chemistry Question here,
One dm^3 of a solution contains 60g of sodium hydroxide,NaOH.
(a) Calculate the concentration of the solution in mol/dm^3 . [1]
(b) If 60g of sodium hydroxide is dissolved in water and then made up to 500cm^3 ,what will be the concentration of the solution in g/dm^3? [1]
(c) Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction of sodium hydroxide with sulphuric acid.
(d) What volume of 0.05 mol/dm^3 sulphuric acid will react with 100 cm^3 of 0.1mol/dm^3 sodium hydroxide
(a) No . of mol = 60 / 40 =1.5mol
Concentration =1.5mol/dm^3
(b) If 60g of sodium hydroxide is dissolved in water and then made up to 500cm^3 ,what will be the concentration of the solution in g/dm^3 ?
Concentration =(60 / 40) / 0.5 dm^3 =3 mol/dm^3
(c) 2NaOH + H2SO4 > Na2SO4 +2H2O
(d) no. of mol of NaOH =0.1x 0.1 =0.01
vol. of H2SO4 =(0.01 / 2 ) / 0.05 =0.01 dm^3
