Hello! I want to have a sneak preview into the kind of content taught for H2 Physics and Chemistry. However I'm not very sure of what sources to look up for. Any recommended TB I can browse through to have a "feel" of what the topics are like? I saw this Physics book by this author named C.S Toh... The publisher has an owl logo, not sure if that's a good guide for a start. As for Chemistry, I totally have no clue which sources/guide books are reliable? hahaha.
Anyway, just list sources which you guys think are good and excellent for understanding concepts, etc.
By the way, if anyone has taken history in JC before, can you tell me where to find sources for a "sneak preview" too? Thank you everybody!
That's right. CS Toh corners the 'A' level market for Chem, Phys and Maths.
Recommended must-buy H2/H1 Chem books available from Popular Bookstore.
Chemistry 'A' Level Study Guide by CS Toh
Chemistry Practice Questions (Ten Year Series) by CS Toh
In addition to the two books pictured above, CS Toh's Practice MCQ Qns (ie. the MCQ version of the above Practice book) is also a recommended buy from Popular Bookstore.
eh don't buy those it's not very good, ur sch notes should suffice...
I took BCME
For H2 Chem, there are 3 main areas of Chemistry.
- Physical Chemistry (40%)
- Organic Chemistry (40%)
- Inorganic Chemistry (20%)
What u learn in physical chemistry are stuff like atomic structure, mole equation, redox reactions, gas laws, thermodynamics, ionic equilibrium, kinetics, electrochemistry, bonding and reactivity.
In organic chemistry, u learn all the reactions, mechanism, conditions and structure of most organic compounds like alkanes, alkenes, arenes, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and nitrogen compounds. A lot of memory work here.
In inorganic chemistry, u learn periodic table, group 2 elements, group 7 elements, and transition elements. It's quite easy but very very memory work.
Yea, Chemistry is quite fun and easy at least for me =)
