1.A student carried out an electrolysis of dilute H2SO4 and collected the gases formed.
Explain how the composotion of the solution changes after the electrolysis has been running for some time.Eh, the composition does really much differ...BUbbles of H2 and O2 are produced as water undergoes decomposition. But what major changes are there?
2.When copper is extracted from its ore, it contains carbon impurities. Suggest how the carbon impurities get into the copper.
I just need help for the above 2 questions. Thanks.
Firstly, these 2 questions are NOT organic chemistry....
1 is electro chem and the other is metals extraction which can be classified as analytical and inorganic chemistry respectively
Now the answers.
The solution would become more acidic as the proportion of sulphate ions to H+ and OH- ions increase.
Is extraction of copper in the O's syllabus? I thought you all only learn Fe. Please refer to the extraction of Fe. If not wrong, coke is used in that process and it might be the same for Cu which will account for the carbon.
