which one are you most interested in leh?

Lol.
The courses you apply for comes from totally different industries.
The first time I applied, I applied for physics in NUS, maritime studies in NTU and business in SMU. Accepted maritime studies but changed to ISE halfway through NS. I think NS is good in the sense that guys get more time to think about their options after receiving their results...can apply up to 3 times also lah.
Anyway I would like to make a pitch for Industrial and systems engineering here to all potential UGs:
1) What is ISE?
ISE is a discipline built on a collection of methodological tools brought together to effect an integrated or "total" approach to problem-solving in engineering and management, with quality and productivity improvement as its overall objective. (taken from official resources)
2) What do IS engineers do?
We develop systems and processes to improve quality and productivity. We look at the big picture, including resources, manpower, technology and information, and apply highly quantitative techniques. It is a broad field, applications range from transportation and supply chain management to banking systems and finance.
3) What is the pay of ISE graduates?
Highest among ALL NUS engineering graduates and of course among the top of all NUS courses. Consistently for the past few years.
4) What are some of the skills that IS engineers learn?
Building models, simulation, cost analysis, management, statistics for engineering, systems design, probability models, human factors engineering, decision analysis, facility layout and location, operations research. (all names of IE modules)
5) What are the fields that IS engineers go into after graduation?
Based on 2008 data, 15% shipping and transportation, 7% banking and finance, public sector 11%, consultancy 7%, IT and manufacturing 12%~. As you can see, there is a diverse range.
If you are interested in business and management or classical engineering, then you should look into ISE. Many banks and consultancy firms like the analytical skills of engineers!

Yaacob Ibrahim is an Adjunct Professor of ISE in NUS

don't give up yet, all the best

Law in SMU... You must do well in your interview and selection test. It's less strict than the one in NUS though. I managed to tyco past the NUS one but they refused to offer me the double deg in law and accountancy.
Must be because of my PW B. Darn. Still kinda sore about it. Anyway competition for law is always great so you need the best grades + best interview skills + best selection test results to qualify.
I know it sucks but c'est la vie. It's Singapore.
