  5 polys offering 25,700 places this year, 700 more than 2008

  SINGAPORE: The five polytechnics - Nanyang, Ngee Ann, Republic, Singapore and Temasek polytechnics have set aside a total of 25,700 places this year, an increase of 700 places compared to last year.
  
  The Ministry of Education said more students are enrolling in polytechnics but the increase is not just due to the popularity of a polytechnic education.
  
  They said it is also because of the overall increase in the number of students who're progressing to post-secondary education.
  
  For example, Republic Polytechnic is offering a record 4,700 places. - CNA/vm
