BTW: What exactly is Economics in JC?
go for H2 economics
Economics is fun! :D
But it's hard work
Always aim to learn more...
Economics is the study of human behavior with regards to money.
You better LOVE graphs.
H2 and H1 Economics content have been reduced.
The emphasis is more on applications and recent economic issues and the policies
to tackle these issues and the strength and weakness of these policies.
The examiners are not so concerned about the academic part of economics now.
H2 students are not required to know the process of credit creation, the mechanics
of the theory of comparative advantage, the theory of interest rate determination,
the construction of a conumer price index and others.
econs u need to be able to write well
heard that their essay qn require like 1200-1500 words O.o
the amt of content for H1 is not exactly half of H2 (as wad they say), but more like 75-80% of H2
IIRC,
H1 exam consists of 2 essay qns (choose 1) of 30% weightage, and 2 compulsory case studies of 70% weightage, total of 3 hrs, only 1 paper
H2 exam consists 2 papers, total 4 hrs 30 min
paper 1, 6 essay qns (choose 3) of 60% weightage, 2 hrs 15 min
paper 2, 2 compulsory case studies of 40% weightage, 2 hrs 15 min

The H3 Econs like very cheem.
Yes, H3 econ is more cheem but this also makes it more fun.
H3 econ covers the asymmetric info, hidden actions and characteristics, imperfect
info, game theory with nash equilibrium, competitive, collusive and entry deterrence
of the firm, more updated internatiomal trade theories Heckscher Ohlin theory,
factor price equalisation theory, intra industry vs inter industry trade theories and
discusses more detailed international trade issues and others.
Syllabus of H3 econ covers many parts of the intermediate level of microeconomics
and undergraduate level of international economics.

econs shld take H2. once you are able to grasp the concepts (H2 econs have a few only), the essay question come come go go (lai lai qu qu) also the same few.
then it's just how you apply the concept to the question and come up with appropriate graphs to illustrate. if possible to come up with your own deductions that are valid, even better (in terms of the "Evaluation" part of the essay)...
i used to agree with taking econs but now im just DYING! we actually formed a study group but somehow it's just not working.
and i also heard H3 econs are very cheem...sigh* wat to do???
oh ya...i saw someone offering econs tutor around CCK area. i wonder if it's good to go for it...said the teacher is actually a econs lecturer. hmm....should i or should i not?

Any free e-book to read all these?
I still hold an interest in econcs (ever since JC) although I don't major in it... Wanted Econs + Engineering double degree, but it was only offered when I was in year 3 -.-"

I do not know of any free e-books on these topics.
However, you can refer to the books Microeconomics by Katz and Rosen and
International Economics by Salvatore on these topics.
These books can be borrowed from National Library or NUS Central Library.
Thx for everyone's advice. Current taking H2 Econs. =)
Great!
Jiayou!!!
Reading newspaper would be great as you can quote examples in your essays and case studies.
And...length is not required for H2 Econ essays because we go for quality instead of quantity. For my A-levels, i wrote one page for each essay parts and i scored an A for my H2 Econs!
Always write evaluative sentences and sentences that will satisfy the L3 criteria.
Always seek help from tutors and go for consultation weekly (start at least 2-3 months before your As if your concept is clear enough. If not, start NOW!). Write an essay once every 2 weeks and submit to your tutor for him/her to go through with you. get him/her to write comments so you can improve in your essay writing skills. It's okay for you to keep practising on ONE essay question. Just try to aim 20/25 for each question before you go on to the next. =) it works. trust me.
Hi.
What about H1 Econs? I'm taking that now...any difference with H2 Econs?
Sad to say, books don't work for me. Always putting me zzz. =)
Currently doing study group with some friends but I think we got no motivation to study cos at the end of the day, I'm still blur. lolz
What about tuition centres? Are they any good?
I'm dumb enough not to see that there's an advertisement thread or read the guidelines.
