I recently had Olevel and received 8 for my L1R5.
My English is B3 and other 5 subjects are all A1.
As for CCA, the grade is C5 hence having the bonus point 1.
In other words, L1R5 = 7(after bonus pt is deducted)
My worry is this ;
as I live in Bedok, I have dreamed of Vjc all the time.
I am happy to join TJC as well.
First, is 8 pointer "highly safe" for even TJC?
(currently cut-off for TJC Arts is 7 and I want Arts)
Second, in your opinion, do you think,
after appealing, I may be allowed for VJC?
(currently cut-off for VJC Arts is 6)
Lastly, will the ranks of the choice have big impact on my application?
What is the safest way to either go to TJC or VJC?
(despite the fact that I prefer VJC)
My house is located between VJC and TJC, so if you want tuition, it'll be convenient... ahh nuts, you're an arts person. Ah well.
Ok, to answer your question.
>>> Lastly, will the ranks of the choice have big impact on my application? <<<
Students are ranked according to their L1R5.
Student A has 6 pts and chooses VJC as 12th choice. Student B has 7 pts and chooses VJC as 1st choice. Assuming student A's 1st-11th choices do not succeed (look, this is hypothetical), and if there's only 1 place left in VJC, student A will get priority over student B.
Only when there is a tie, in terms of L1R5 score, then your placement of choice (eg. 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice, etc) matters.
Eg. If 2 students, Mr A and Mr B, both have the same L1R5.
Mr A puts VJC as his 3rd choice while Mr B puts VJC as his 4th choice. There is only 1 spot in VJC left. If Mr A fails to get into his 1st and 2nd choice, and Mr B fails to get into his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice, then Mr A gets priority over Mr B to get into VJC.
That's the one scenario you have to watch out for.
>>> First, is 8 pointer "highly safe" for even TJC? <<<
No. 8 points is not safe for neither VJC nor TJC. Competition gets fiercer every year.
>>> What is the safest way to either go to TJC or VJC? <<<
To be honest, it'll be unlikely for you to get into VJC or even TJC. Go ahead and put these as 1st and 2nd choices, but be mentally prepared to get into an easier JC of your 3rd and 4th choices, eg. TPJC.
poly lah. surely better than JC.

Not literally. But even if you don't take H2 maths, it's recommended to take at least H1 maths. But there are JC students who take neither, which may be a detriment to themselves if their University course involves mathematics (and most Uni courses do).
sounds like you need a lot more help with your grammar
