Wahlao sibei sian sia, my school really damn moronic. Only allow the best class to take amaths, den jc how?! Im in the best class, but was not offered amaths instead POA. Then today i went to JC open house, they say want enter science stream need 3 H2 subject and 1 H1. I don want to enter art stream cos its like a waste of time lah. So how? Must appeal right? If my bio and chem A1, you think if i appeal for sci stream got high chance mah? Sian..

It totally depends on whether you are able to convince the HOD. The final decision lies with them.
oh ya, i wanna ask.
You know on that day we receive our results, there would be a paper telling us to go online to register and see our subject combi. do you think its possible to have H2 maths without amaths even without appealing? o.o just wondering if theres such miracle.

Unfortunately, no. Your secondary school sabo'd you bad.
Wah lao so sickening.
I really want to go JC damn bad, but art stream is just not for me since my sciences are my forte -.- art stream is definitely a waste of time.
How do i even appeal? Sigh. Dead meat.

One possible solution (again, you're entirely at your JC's HOD's mercy, to allow this) :
If without Additional mathematics, you're only allowed to take H1 mathematics, then take H1 mathematics in the Science stream. Your subjects could be :
H2 Chemistry
H2 Physics (or Biology)
H2 (insert contrasting subject, eg. Economics)
H1 Mathematics
Some JCs allow your contrasting subject (which is compulsory) to be a H2 subject.
Keep us updated on how it goes.
i thought now the trend is that arts courses are more popular than science courses in uni?
Okay. I am not sure tho, i prefer science stream rather to art stream.
Another possible combination they provided is :
H2 Chem
H2 Econcs
H2 Geog / History
H1 Maths
But i believe if i take this combination i wont last long -.-
Actually the combination doesn't seem too bad,as long as you work really smart and hard it's possible to get good results. So don't be demoralised by not getting A maths.Arts stream really isn't a bad idea too.Or you might want to consider going those more prestigious courses in poly, they aren't too bad too :D
All the best!
i think you should just try appealing to your HOD/principal then if really cannot maybe MOE(this is a far shot)
but be reasonable and not rude. give good reasons, like your forte and interest is in maths/ science (show results) and not getting it will make it that much harder for your dream course/ career in engineering or quantum physics.

I agree with hisoka, don't give up your goals without a fight. Appeal (personally) to several different JCs if you have to. Ask the principals or HODs, "What would it take for you to accept me into Science stream in 2009? Would you like me to sit for an additional math paper in front of you under exam conditions and I score an A1 for you? Bring it on! Right now!"
Incidentally, since you're passionate about the Sciences, you should read TakChek's articles below, some food for thought as you plan for your future ahead.
