as u can see this is my first post....juz ORD-ed not long ago... but certain things remain undecided.
i do not know whether this is the right place to post this...so if this is inappropriate do forgive me.
I wish to do mechanical engineering in a local university....obviously that leaves me with only NUS and NTU. The majority of my friends told me that mech engin is better done in NTU. Better in what way? No one really knows.
I decided that other than the quality of the course being provided, everything else is important to me as well....the people there, the culture, the hostel etc. I believe everything would be important. So what do you guys think?
i'm in NTU mechanical engineering. do PM me.
Prioritise the travelling time then.
travelling timewise is nus....but that's not reallie impt rite?
i would choose nus over ntu anytime.
for local employers, maybe ntu engineering is better.
but all these achievement is transcient, they don't last long. look at Nanyang business school and the nus business school. nus has recently overtook NBS again as the first in singapore. so ranking and course-wise, its not so impt which uni is better.
i think wads more important is the prestige of the school. if you are ever going to seek employment in an MNC, obviously they are not going to know much about the unis in this part of the world. thus, they would most likely look for candidates from the country's flagship university, which in NUS in the case of singapore.
ask an angmoh about Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. which one will sound more prestigious to him?

Wow, that sucks for ntu graduates.
i personally do agree that ntu has the edge in engineering.
nus has a higher ranking than ntu becus it is a more 'comprehensive' university that offers courses in law, medicine, etc etc, in which ntu does not.
if an ang moh was to judge a school by whether it has the word 'singapore' in it anot, that he or she must simply be a ignorant cockster. any prospective student should choose to pursue a course base on his/her interest, as well as the strengths of the university.
anyway, i will be graduating from ntu in 2009. people entering Mechanical/Common engineering in 2009 may wana PM me. i have some notes/tutorials to give away, from yr1-4. Throw away abit sayang.
Cheers
