Hi everyone. I am embarking on a project with regards to the study of bacteria. Some households have taps which have got a filter cloth attached to it, limiting the flow of water from the tap.
Over a long period of time, a brown substance starts to accumulate and eventually becomes a permanent fixture on this filter. I suspect that the "brown substance" is an iron(III) ion and am trying to find out whether over a period of time, consumption of water from tap will adversely affect our health since the iron(III)ion may contain bacteria, etc. Does anyone know more about this? If yes, do provide me with answers on how it affects our health. Hopefully, evidence are provided to aid me in this big project I am working on.
Thank you.
